22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

Yes, I think it's a very likely outcome. Can you give me a watertight reason why they would ease restrictions? As I've said countless times before, all they need to do is maintain the status quo, not introduce anything new. Maintaining something they have already done is far easier than...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

I think it's all beginning to look rather like we will be in lockdown ('Tier 2 or 3 mininum) all year, with possible relaxation briefly over the summer (perhaps national Tier 2), then lockdown again next winter and removal of all restrictions taking at least another year.

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

And why would this be such a problem that we should destroy the future of an entire generation even further?

New lockdown in England, including school closures, announced by Johnson, 4/1/21

Boris is a chronic liar, this should be evident from the fact that he has broken every one of these promises/claims/predictions.

New lockdown in England, including school closures, announced by Johnson, 4/1/21

The economy has already collapsed. We have essentially zero spending in a massive chunk of the economy (hospitality, tourism, most independent shops). These parts of the economy are already dead, they won't return. 1613750781 Yes, I think you're right on both points.

This 70% more infectious figure was banded about a lot but that was the upper bound of the possible increased infectiousness. More recent figures put it much closer to 30% more infectious. It still doesn't take away from the fact that the 'cure' is now definitely worse than the disease.

Perhaps you could answer this. We were told repeatedly last year that vaccines were the way out of this. Now it is quite apparent that they are no longer regarded as the way out of the pandemic by our lords and masters, who are instead keen to further increase mass testing as a prerequisite to...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

What I am proposing is essentially the opposite of a conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories are typically marked by being over complicated and having tenuous links to reality. I am merely suggesting that human pride and arrogance (something which I am sure we both agree exists) is in operation...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

Yes. I believe that they know that the only way to keep the population sticking to the rules is to keep us scared and depressed. By their own admission (through their mouthpiece the BBC) they commenced a fear campaign against the population at the start of the year (I don't have links right now...

    Media Coverage of COVID -19

Why is it 'repugnant' to point out that making someone wear a badge that shows they are different to the majority of other people is something we should view with great trepidation? This is going very off topic on the media thread!

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

I think it's fair to say that the government is seeking to keep the population as depressed and suppressed as possible though. This isn't some sort of grand plan, but rather a means to keep the population 'under control'. As I've said before, there doesn't have to be any reason for the...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

I'm not suggesting it was introduced for this reason, merely that a convenient by product of mass testing is being able to justify more lockdowns. Clearly the original reason was to find and isolate more cases.

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

I think you've hit the nail on the head right there. Isn't it interesting that when there was previously talk of mass lateral flow testing being a pathway to normality (it was first mentioned in the summer of last year) we were told that the lateral flow tests weren't reliable enough for that...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

For that very reason I suspect the government will keep it illegal for as long as possible/permanently.

And the usual implications in various articles that the lack of evidence that the decline is due to the vaccines is the same as evidence that its not linked to the vaccines. Basically pushing the agenda that lockdowns work, vaccines (probably) aren't enough.

    Media Coverage of COVID -19

This is awful, must be terrible for the people affected (I hate wearing a muzzle but it must be doubly bad for people who can't wear one and feel forced into doing it). I don't think Darandio's comparison is 'out of order' - as I see it he is pointing out that we could be at the beginning of a...
