    Southeastern Metro 465/466 allocations

One to look out for is the weekday peak Charing Cross-Tunbridge Wells shorts are usually some combination of 465s and 466s. These used to be guaranteed 465/9s back in the first class days, but even since I've not seen one be 375s.

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

Friend has just reported passing 720516 on the M62 this afternoon. Presumably coming back from Longsight to... somewhere?

    Multiple Working

I've heard stories that some of the 90s did indeed reach "interesting" speeds when being driven from the DVT...

    Multiple Working

I'd be impressed if you manage to get past 75 on a Rugeley stopper! They were great as everyone made a beeline for the 170 so the only people in the 153 were either cranks or fare evading!

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Noticing the usual pair of 707s aren't out today-off to southeastern or just disgraced after failing yesterday?

WCML blockade - impact on EMR services? (29/03 - 01/04)

Looks like trying to get out of St Pancras on Friday morning was a mistake then-am I likely to get away with it before 9am or shall I pack my boxing gloves and a hard hat?

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

Typical, the one day I don't need to get it! 2C16 was announced as "I'm pleased to announce this train is formed of 10 coaches this morning"! I can't help but notice that it was reported in journey check as 10 vice 8 this morning, but never gets a look in when it's 4 or 5!

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

The question that most of us want to know the answer to is whether 2C18 will go back to having more than 4/5 coaches on!

I'll do you a swap, one of the key peak readings was 4-455 yesterday and 5-458 this morning....

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

RTT reports 043 out today, but 037 has just flown past me at Clapham on its way back to Wimbledon Park.

    10 Car v 9 Car IET Staffing

Thanks for the insight-never realised they weren't allowed to have the guard get off at Oxford! Where is it that turbos run guarded-Basing, north Downs, Marlow & beyond Oxford? Is Windsor DO?

    10 Car v 9 Car IET Staffing

With the exception of the Oxford services which can run driver only, you always need one train manager (usually on the rear unit), and for the front set a "lead host" (formerly front set lead), who is catering crew with extra competency (not sure what). When a train is booked as a 10car there...

    Waterloo to frimley service.

Used to run as the 1654 (to Farnham if memory serves), Clapham Junction then fast to Hounslow. Got changed to run via Richmond in the old peak Shepperton Path about a year ago. There were also 1754 and 1854 services but these went a couple of years ago. There was also a third one from Farnham to...

    June 2024 Timetable Change

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I'm glad they've seen sense and kept it such that one train does all the little stations between Barnham and Havant.

    June 2024 Timetable Change

Whilst not metro, posters have appeared at Barnham that the proposed west Coastway change is going ahead-does anyone know if the changes will be as per original consultation or if it's been revised?

    June 2024 Timetable Change

I do wonder whether there'll be issues with crowding during half term at the end of May, now that the timetable isn't changing until June.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

At the risk of digging up an old debate, I refuse to believe it's beyond the realms of possibility to have a system similar to London underground's CSDE (correct side door enabling), which won't let you release the doors if you stop short/on the wrong side

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Yes. Just 10.25 & 12.53 departures from Waterloo, and 11.30 & 14.00 departures from Windsor, Mon-Fri, at present.
