Due to life getting in the way, it's been a while since I've posted on here (goes and has a look - blimey, over a year :s ). Congratulations on getting all the 91s in the thousand club, that's quite an achievement. <:D
A couple of requests from a murky Doncaster yesterday afternoon (9/1/18):
66 on 0914 Ipswich S.S. to Lindsey Oil Refinery (1350 ish)
66 on 1333 Drax Aes (Gbrf) to Doncaster Down Decoy (1445 ish)
Sticky numbers appreciated.
Quite a bit of tram track bashed there (the BLS light rail maps turned out to be a handy reference, and inevitably B*ker for the main line bits). How do the 332s compare against their much cheaper Northern cousins?
Good to see that after the previous shenanigans 320301 is finally in the got you, you b*****d club. They could've given it a clean for the occasion though. :)
Indeed. The prospect of two nights away from home, the first night in steerage in a Mk1 and the second night in a Vauxhall Cavalier (hatchback mind, so the smallest goes in the boot) somehow isn't so enticing nowadays...
Waking up travelling through the Highlands is one of the best experiences of UK rail travel, and a good way of getting your mileage up. Shame about Serco's brave new fares though.
Nice to see some classic traction employed on the tour. According to the photo on Transport Scotland's rail projects web page, improvements on the Aberdeen-Inverness line will feature class 40s but I'm not holding my breath... :D
That was also my experience when Mrs 45135 and me sat in coach M for the first time in January - we didn't have any choice unfortunately as the train was full. Not only that but the banging sounds coming from the DVT didn't really enhance the first class experience.
Nice to see some of the few remaining loco hauled workings in Ireland. A trip to the pub for some decent beer certainly fills in the time between trains very effectively...
