Buying tickets for Euston to City Thameslink return

If you're conveying a stack of legal papers for work you'd expect to have some kind of container to keep them in... It's really not hard to keep things dry using the miracle of plastics.

Trivia: Unusual, bizarre or oddly specific causes of delay

Ended up stuck at Westbury for a couple of hours about 20 years ago due to a hot air balloon on the line.

Are too loud and too many PRM alarms and announcements making travellers uptight.....

We really don't need reminding about the terror threat every half an hour. We really don't need reminding about the terror threat every half an hour. Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

No, businesses are in business to make money. Of course, a good way to do this is to serve your customers well. Particularly if they can easily switch to one of your competitors. Errr...

    "See it, say it, sorted"

Reducing to the absurd seeing as Manchester and London Bridge have come up, why do we not mount loudspeakers on every lamppost to tell us to report anything dodgy every 30 minutes? It's not a railway-specific problem.

    Manual or Automated Recorded Announcements

There appear to have been some changes lately in SN-land as well. I'm not sure what exactly but Moulsecoomb ("Mools-coom") is now "Moles-cum" :s and Southwick (I've always known this pronounced as "South Wick") now appears to be related to Southwark... Other locations may also have changed - I...

    Havant - London Terminals routeing

Thank you yorkie! This would suit me down to the ground!

    Havant - London Terminals routeing

Thanks all for confirming! I will definitely be doing this. @marshmallow thank you for the extra options! I'm not going for a travelcard as I can normally walk to wherever I need to get to or use Oyster on occasion. Will check out the Bognor ticket though and see if that fits my common...

    Havant - London Terminals routeing

Hi folks, I currently have a Brighton-London annual season (any permitted). On another thread someone mentioned a Havant single ticket to London being valid through Brighton, so I thought I'd have a look. From my newbie inspection of the routeing guide it looks like the following mapped routes...

Why are the Class 700s so terrible?

I would take a 700 all day long over the 319s we used to get going south to Brighton from P5 at London Bridge in the evening peak. Doesn't look like I have much choice anyway as my normal commute has slid from 442 -> 377 -> 700 in recent months. I suppose it could be worse!

Trivia: Odd Old Station (or On Train) Items You Remember.

The little armrest ashtrays in carriage B of the Great Western HSTs. And traipsing all the way to the buffet car for a microwaved burger with sauce so hot it would still burn your mouth by the time you got back to your seat. Guess I'm quite young as well!

Inadequate Class 700 first class demarcation

I jumped on a 700 at Brighton a few weeks ago and sat in the rear section. As the train filled up a couple of "rail neighbourhood officers" got on and asked to see my ticket. As I only had my standard season I was told to move, an instruction I complied with (the PIS wasn't working and I didn't...

    London Bridge reconstruction works

I've been joking with my colleague that they were building the biggest Burger King in Europe behind the hoardings, so this is terrible news. :(

    Weird announcement at Three Bridges

I was there briefly yesterday and it seemed that they had turned them off, as all I heard was one announcement from a human. No random stations as the GX sped through platform 5...

    PA Announcements

Kind of related - I was at Three Bridges platform 5 on Sunday and the automated announcements were absolutely haywire. Instead of "Please stand clear from the edge of platform five. The approaching train is not scheduled to stop at this station" we had "Lostwithiel. Welwyn Garden City...

Southeastern employee apologises for their crappy ticket barriers

While slightly deviating from the topic, I thought I had better post something sometime... Hello everyone! I have an annual AP season from Brighton to London Terminals, and at the East Croydon bridge exit my ticket lets me out, but not back in. I can understand at Lewes where the ticket...
