    Merseyrail to Carr Mill?

Everything is possible, but I doubt practical in this instance, as its going to go on the Liverpool to Wigan line which is not served by Merseyrail Electrics at all as its from Lime Street, although it is part of Merseyrail Network, there is a difference between the two. I think I'm correct is...

    Redex

I use it now and again, can't say I've noticed any difference in performance or whatever. Like you I remember my dad always getting a shot of redex. I can't understand the reasoning of the same size bottle having either one tank full, ir several tank fulls.

    Sleeper carriages movement on SVR

Ok thanks folks. I did wonder if it might be for that as there would be no passengers on board.

    Sleeper carriages movement on SVR

Does anybody know why the rake of sleeper carriages normally kept at Kidderminster moved up towards Bridgnorth today. They were pulled by Mayflower, I spotted it on the railcam on Youtube at Highley this afternoon at about 4pm. Just wondering why they were moved.

    Lorry driver recruitment crisis

It started a few years ago when the Government introduced the requirement that all drivers had to have a CPC, Certificate of Professional Competence, that the EU insisted upon. Please note some other EU Countries just ignored it. Most drivers would have to take a weeks leave, unpaid, and pay for...

    Junctions in Tunnels

Correct, it is the Queensway Tunnel that has two branches off to the docks at both the Birkenhead side and Liverpool side. The Kingsway Tunnel did have plans originally for a branch to Wallasey docks but this didn't happen.

Buying house backing onto train tracks...

I had a mate that used to live next to a railway line down South, the only time he couldn't sleep properly was when the drivers went on strike. He couldn't get used to the quiet.

Boris Johnson Announcement Discussion - 10/05/20

My wife works in a school and she said year 6 should be back first as its their last year there. Otherwise we thought the same after Boris's statement, nothing really clarified at all.

First passenger railway station / line?

Back in the 1970's when Edge Hill station in Liverpool was being renovated, all the canopies on the four platforms taken down, a notice from British Rail stated The Worlds oldest still working railway station. As Steamybrain says Edge Hill was moved slightly away from the track leading to Crown...

Is learning to drive an HGV harder than learning to drive a train ?

Don't forget if your driving an HGV you might have to load and unload the cargo as well. I started driving HGV's when I was 22 years old and drove them all over the UK and Ireland for the next 12 years until I had an incident which took me off the road. These days I wouldn't drive one for work...

Northern rejected All Areas Saveaway ticket

My daughter, who lives in Prescot, bought an All areas Saveaway from Liverpool Central station, when travelling back from Chester she asked me could she get off at Lime Street and using that ticket go back to Prescot. I said yes she could. At the Northern barriers at Lime Street she found she...

Why was third rail mostly concentrated in the South?

The Mersey Railway, the one under the river, adopted third rail electrification in 1903. The same year it was installed on the Liverpool to Southport line.

The Merseyrail Underground & Overground Explorer

Surely the most boring and offers the worst window views of any in Britain is the London Underground.

The Merseyrail Underground & Overground Explorer

You can't go on the stock interchange line on a regular service. I agree with you though buying an all area saveaway for £5.55 will take you to most of the stations/lines.

Northern: North West Sunday Crew Shortages

I know a guard who works for Northern based out of Leeds. He turned to work on last Sunday morning for a trip from Leeds to Manchester, it was cancelled due to no driver. He had to wait for four hours for his next turn again from Leeds to Manchester, and again it was cancelled due to no driver...

Merseyrail to ban smoking on station property (except car parks)

I've read in the Daily Telegraph over a number of years that some Council bye-laws are illegal. I forget which Councils and bye-laws they were.

Merseyrail to ban smoking on station property (except car parks)

The above is typical British way of thinking, telling lies by officials acting big in front of others. I reckon anyone caught smoking should report it to the European Courts, while we are still in EU, as I'm sure the original ruling on 2007 covered just smoking under a roof with at least one...
