Was just reading on WNXX about a possible reduction of the 37 fleet due to costly exams approaching and I'm curious does anybody know what costings generally are for the various exams on rolling stock?

It comes from the EU Regulation I linked not a directive so dosn't need to be implemented into legislation and can't be decided upon by national governments.

Yellow panels are required under the group standards, although there are now exemptions for trains with certain headlights. Answered my own question, contrasting doors required under EU PRM TSI Regulations.

Despite seemingly becoming the norm accross Europe would I be correct in saying that contrasting coloured doors on rolling stick is a UK group standard requirement originally and not actually legally required or is this now an EU legal requirement for passenger access purposes?

How long it wasn't used for shouldn't matter as I imagine the entire system would have been worked on/refurbished/tested during overhaul, when was the ETS last used on the 73/9-they probably have a new ETS system but a new system should be just as good as a refurbished system, I would imagine...

OK it's been a good while since the 92s were displaced and no obvious sign of them returning soon, any updates on if/when they will return and I'm curious what steps/mods have been/will be taken with them to improve their reliability? The 73/9s will probably achieve full utilisation before the 92s!

I've also wondered this too as I always thought they had to work in pairs (except the 86/5) due to their gearing and power at rail for the liners. Also thought it odd that they substitute a 86/86 for a 86/90 (in multiple) the odd time when the 90 is well able on its own?

I see what appears to be one of the old EPS Mk3 generators has appeared at UKRL Leicester, any ideas why? Also curious of the satus/location of the other Mk3s, I think 4 were converted?

I've never seen one either although I have seen plenty of 00 gauge models of a BFK so assumed there had been some in real life and now I know there was at least one!
