Current guidelines regarding driver minding duties

Re 43066- I’m pretty sure your statement a couple posts up could be levelled as using emotive language: Quote 43066 What about the deaths that are being caused by this lockdown to people whose heart operations have been cancelled, delayed cancer diagnoses, delayed chemotherapy etc.? What about...

SWR ASLEF preparing for dispute over pay

In fairness I never said they deserve the same as a doo driver. I am also a doo driver by the way. I just think there’s an argument they could get more for the multiple routes and traction. More than the current wage.

SWR ASLEF preparing for dispute over pay

I wonder what figures are being looked at for drivers?! I’ve always thought swr drivers are (for the industry) paid a comparatively low driver wage considering the route and traction knowledge that drivers hold. I only say comparatively to other tocs, particularly London based ones. I know it’s...

    DMI ADVICE & QUERY

I should add that whilst it doesn’t count as a strike for opc testing purposes. If you are unsuccessful the company may say you can’t reapply for x amount of months ie 6.

    DMI ADVICE & QUERY

Hi, Dmi / driver mangers interview does not count as a strike . It’s toc specific and usually undertaken by driver managers/ hr for the relevant company . The dmi I did involved questions around: -tell us about the company- look at information like the current md/ routes / traction / depots/...

    Shunting potion at Shoeburyness

I may be wrong but I don’t think the vacancy is live anymore. Best to keep an eye out on the recruitment page and register for job alerts.

    C2C Part time drivers wanted

C2C has two driver depots. All the ‘part time’ roles were snapped up at Shoeburyness straight away. Mostly by drivers on the wind down ie near retirement, pension pot built. No external recruitment was required at this depot. East Ham is a younger depot on the whole. And for many who are...

    C2C Part time drivers wanted

From what I’ve heard within C2C many of the part time positions are being taken up by drivers near retirement who are doing it as a wind down role. However this hasn’t filled all the positions required to make the time table work. So some shunters are internally progressing to part time...

For those who failed the medical

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t rely on home testing. I’d go to a reputable optician and request proper test conditions. I thought I had issues with my eye sight (and colour perception) but was fine when properly tested. In terms of alternative roles being offered I did read of this happening...

Priv London Euston to Prestwick Town

Thanks for the replies. I was probably over thinking it. But with all the mention of specifically ‘Prestwick town’ I got a little concerned. I think, like you say, it will be fine. It’s just an all encompassing term.

Priv London Euston to Prestwick Town

Hello. Very quick one please. I’m travelling priv rate from London Euston to Prestwick Town tomorrow with a change at Glasgow central. I’ve just checked the ticket that I’ve been sold and it specifically states ‘Euston to Prestwick Strathclyde.’ I’m sure it’s valid just wanted to double check...

    Shunter/depot driver to Mainline

I only have knowledge of C2c. But yes they are the same. I don’t know if there are any C2c shunters on here who have gone mainline ? But there used to be a question over whether enhanced passes only were needed for progression to mainline . But I believe they’ve relaxed that too.

    Shunter/depot driver to Mainline

Apparently with C2c it’s quite good. There used to be a automatic progression. But now you do a years service and can apply when the role is advertised. I’ve been told they use a suitability test to determine who goes forward. Ie a exam with a bit of rules and traction. From what I’ve heard...

    Notice Periods

An interesting question. Although not an answer as such we had an employee (driver) who wanted to relocate to another company (providing only one months notice). Due to the nature of the role (ie lots of training and money invested in you) hr and management insisted that he serve his full...

Should London Underground drivers be recognised as qualified drivers?

I’m guessing Tyne and Wear metro do the train driver industry standard psychometric testing too when applying for the role ? Where as lul have their own in house tests that aren’t transferable and are valid for their infrastructure.

    Rubbish towns

I fully agree. The town does not feel safe and is very run down in parts. There is a road adjacent to the train station where there is open drug dealing. I’m even aware of a friend who works for C2C, stating that their is an agreement for drivers to receive taxis to and from the depot due to...
