    Traksy Website

Not sure if this thread is the right place to report this, so if not then apologies - I tried emailing but not sure if it got through. If it did then just ignore this! With the signalling etc work done at Dunblane recently, I've noticed that if you search for Stirling on Traksy and then move...

Derby Platform 7 - Why isn't it used? (and other unused platforms)

Very little, The only 2 services I can find are the LNER 1W22 Kings Cross to Stirling at 20:12 and Scotrail 2N70 from Alloa at 23:55

Trivia: Settlements without a station where the two nearest stations are on different lines

Depending on what is classed as a settlement, Corran (on Loch Hourn) is roughly equidistant from Kyle of Localsh and Mallaig.

Trivia: Stations (with 3+ platforms) where you have to leave the station to change platforms.

Does Dunblane count? 3 platforms and the bridge between them is also open to the public to use as an access between the parts of the town centre either side of the railway.

Trivia: Stations with access only on to one side of the tracks and which require a long trek to cross to the other side of the railway line

I suppose it depends what the OP defines as a long trek - both the Shore Road overbridge and the new(ish) pedestrian bridge are just to the North and South of the station respectively

    Caledonian Sleeper

Industrial action by the RMT. All but the down Lowlander aren't running. Then tomorrow night all but the up Lowlander aren't running. See https://www.sleeper.scot/service-alterations/ Ross

    Caledonian Sleeper

Yep - per scot-rail.co.uk the 73 was successfully put on skates and moved to P8 at Stirling overnight, so this is it being taken onward to Mossend. Unclear as to whether or not 66733 is still attached to it at Stirling, but I think the original rescue plan was to move it between 2 locos, so...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Reported on scot-rail.co.uk that at least one wheel is severely damaged and skates will need to be used. To fit them the OHLE will need isolated and so the plan is to do it this evening when there is more time overnight. Will be interesting to see if they finally manage to recover it tonight...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I see on traksy that the sleeper coaches (presumably still with 73 attached) are still sitting in Stirling P3 as of 13.27. Just as well Stirling has P6 to route the Southbound stuff through!

Stations where trains only commence service/terminate service when heading from/to a Depot

Depends if the fact that Stirling is used for stabling Scotrail stock makes it a depot? If does then that covers the Scotrail starting / stopping services, and the only other one (I think) is the morning Azuma service to Kings Cross and the evening return which run from / to Craigentinny so...

    class 141s

According to Wikipedia they took the chance to match the last digits of the vehicle and unit numbers, so 55502 and 55522 (originally 141001) became 141102 and so on, with 55521 and 55541 becoming 141101. Makes a little sense when you think about it.

Best sited stations for town/city centre.

I made it 10 minutes because it might take that long to get to the cinema :) If you miss that out then 5 minutes is nearer the mark, and possibly less depending on your walking speed!

Best sited stations for town/city centre.

Stirling - Less than 10 minutes walk from the main shopping centre, bus station and cinema.

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

I think this will depend on whether or not the ORR has signed the wires off for public use. I'd imagine they haven't yet, or it would have been announced on twitter somewhere?

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Just to follow up on the Grangemouth bit - I was driving underneath the branch on the way down past the fire station at the weekend and noticed a few of the OHLE arms etc on the docks side of the bridge are still folded back parallel with the track. Looking the other direction, towards...

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

But if you want to take an optimistic view then you could say that it's only the Central Scotland programme the poster refers to as being completed. Any other schemes could be known as (for example only) the Perthshire programme covering Dunblane to Perth, or the Fife programme and so on. I...

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Of course it does and I should have realised that! D'oh! Thank for that and thanks to you and Kilonewton for confirming it's not live yet and won't be for a while by the looks of it. Out of curiosity was there ever any plan to wire into the docks or would that not work because of the HGVs etc?

I'll make a point of looking tomorrow and see if they are still the same....
