Well maybe the Beaulieu Park loop might get used for bypass timetabling, as Witham loops sometimes are. If they don't do more skip stopping, any Colchester starter would be full by the time it got there. Perhaps even an additional up loop platform at BP might be needed?

Not forgetting that Witham has had it's own housing development boom too recently.

Travelling through the site on Tuesday afternoon and based on the aerial pictures here, there does appear space for an additional up loop and platform on the A12 side, if the need arose in the future.

I find that despite the roadworks, at weekends driving down the A12 to Shenfield and taking the train from there is the best option.

I think they will use still the existing up line but with the new Overhead gantries. Presumably only the new down line will be commissioned with plain line at each end for now. Again my assumption is the points and signals for the loop line between the up and down line will be commissioned...

Does this imply that the additional headway is due to an assumption ( or contingency) that the down freight is looped at Beaulieu Park?
