Mock Trainee Train driver assessment course

I think it's a waste of time and money too.

    DM Interview - Thameslink

Yep! I kept checking everyday then eventually gave up! Funnily enough I needed my payslip as proof of income for something! Typical eh!

    GTR recruiting again

I'm at King's Cross mate. I wanted Blackfriars too, I had applied for there and Bedford but was offered KX so took what I got!

    DM Interview - Thameslink

According to the chart thing I saw the trainee wage will go from £23, 933 to £24, 711 But it seems that this has not been implemented yet and will be back dated. My payslip still shows £23, 933 as the salary. One driver I worked with still had the previous salary on his payslip too...

    GTR recruiting again

I think they really are short of instructors. They even switch the course a little and had us do our front end turns before starting the rules bit which is usually the other way round - because of 'logistical' reasons. I did notice the other day they had vacancies for instructors. I think...

    Spouse/Partner travel passes. GTR

Ahh nice one. Cheers for that mate. It's not actually such a big deal but it's just that in the letter I got with mine it states that partner/spouse pass should be enclosed so I was just wondering if there was some sort of error. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- This wouln't be...

    Spouse/Partner travel passes. GTR

Hi everyone, I apologise if this has already been asked. :D I recently started as a trainee driver with GTR. Anyone know how long it takes for spouse/partner travel passes to arrive? I was told it would take longer than mine. I received my staff travel pass (but nothing else)...

    DM Interview - Thameslink

I hope they keep it! Apparently it's because Southeastern staff don't currently get it and they are trying to decide whether to make it fair by giving it to them or taking it away from everyone else

    DM Interview - Thameslink

We get free travel on London Midland. But you wont be able to use it until you get the permanent one.

    DM Interview - Thameslink

I'm not sure how strict they are with the 1 hour thing to be honest. They guys on my course are from Hitchin, Peterborough, March, Reading, Huntingdon, Ickleford etc

New Trainee Driver at London Bridge for Southern

Hi mate, I'm currently training with GTR and it's Mon-Fri 9-4 (roughly) except when doing front end turns with a driver, it's just four days a week and definitely no Sundays! I suppose it would be something along those lines for you also. As for parking, I can get parking at my depot so...

Why do you want to work on the railway?

I would say for me, apart from the salary and job security. The fact that it's something I enjoy (though I am fairly new), the people I work with and also the fact that every turn is different!

    Query about MMI

It depends on what you have put down for each. For example, the one about something you have done which is similar to train driving - the only thing I could put was when I used to drive a minibus. I pointed out that it required a lot of concentration and also me having to ignore...

    Thameslink Trainee Vacancies

September is just round the corner anyway. You will be there before you know it. It's worth the wait :D

Got a start date for southeastern trainee driver :-)

I would say having someone to help you revise also helps. If you get them to ask you questions etc. You can also ask them if they know something (which they mostly likely wont) then explain it to them - I think by telling other people things, it helps you to retain the information yourself...

    Thameslink Trainee Vacancies

I am not sure if it's too late for the July 6th start. I was told my start date on the 30th of April, 3 days after I passed the DM interview.

    GTR recruiting again

I am not 100% sure on this but I think the earliest could be something like 04:47 and latest finish is 23:43 (well that's the latest I have finished so far). I live in Tulse Hill which is 28 mins from St Pancras intl. I would say give yourself plenty of time to get there. Usually you book...

    Query about MMI

I agree that you could use this as an example - as redron pointed out, as long as you structure your answer correctly. I used my time at university as my example - I pointed out my use of time management and organisational skills as well as planning ahead to balance work/uni/home life etc...

    Final Rules passed :)

Congrats Pepperami. Well done! Time to have a little fun :D I can't wait to get to that stage! Where are you training and for which TOC?
  20. l0c0m0t1ve

What does training actually involve ?

I couldn't agree more. I think you have to have a certain level of commitment and discipline. The way I see it is, who needs a social life anyway? :D --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I think that's exactly the right attitude to have. I don't see the point of going through the...
