Mortimer to Reading Green Park fare

Thanks, that is indeed a good workaround. I did check for Bramley to RGP though which was more expensive, but forgot the other option of Mortimer to Reading West.

Is it true split ticketing means you risk losing delay repay for the whole journey?

My experience is that Delay Repay system used by the First TOCs, such as SWR, GWR, TPE, Hull, etc, handles this easily. It asks the question “did you have multiple tickets for your journey”, which applies to cases of both when multiple people travels/claims together each with their own ticket...

Mortimer to Reading Green Park fare

I was trying to get a Mortimer to Reading Green Park return ticket travelling tomorrow for the new station’s opening. I was surprised to find none of the online retailers, including GWR, sells them, even if the relevant train schedule has been added and available from National Rail Enquiries. A...

Tottenham Court Road ticket gates rejecting paper ticket

Hi, Another post in this forum has just reminded me of a recent similar experience at Tottenham Court Road (TCR). I was travelling on a Luton to Southampton super off peak return ticket routed ✠Any Permitted. There are at least two london-crossing routes that are valid for passing through this...

Access new fare info before 5 March

Hi, I understand there will be an average 5.9% increase on regulated fares on 5 March. However, I wonder how I can access the exact new fare info for each individual journeys before this day? I have plans to make several long distance journeys using flexible tickets during Easter and the three...

Gatwick Express: Tickets marked "Not Gatwick Express" claimed as not valid at Brighton

Maybe this is quite far from the original topic — I wonder how does GTR’s brand restriction compared to Southeastern’s 00131 “PLUS HIGH SPEED” restriction? (and to a lesser extent also their 00130 “NOT VALID ON HS1”) For one thing, the “high speed” also looks like a brand, and is definitely not...

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

The rest of the story is below, just to end this thread. 27 Nov: I sent my reply to Arriva requesting the case be escalated. 2 Dec: Arriva replied, admitting the error made before and promised further investigation into why the driver refused the ticket in the first place. However, they did not...

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

There is indeed a 2D barcode printed on my bog roll ticket, however it is an Aztec code commonly used in the rail sector, while the ticket reader on the bus mostly handles just QR codes. A very similar issue has recently being discussed in more detail elsewhere in this forum...

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

An update: TfW has just replied to my original complaint after 15 working days. They refused to deal with the issue and referred me to Arriva bus. I am filing another complain to Arriva bus and will update when they reply. 1669488684 ————————————— I received this following email from Arriva...

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

Just to update this. On my way from Caernarfon back to Bangor today, the inbound portion ticket was smoothly accepted by the Arriva 5C driver. I will complain to TfW and Arriva about the ticket rejection in the outbound journey following the advice from @Bungle965 and see how it goes.

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

It was sold by the guard on board a GWR train using his hand-held device. There was no timetable query thus could not determine which bus is allowed.

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

Interestingly drivers from both companies considered it for coincidentally 10 seconds and decided not to accept it. Had to buy a single in the end which cost another £4.20. May have to buy another £4.20 single when returning next week. If I want to complain about this, does anyone know where...

Bangor to Caernarfon Bus ticket acceptance

I just got this Bangor to Caernarfon bus ticket but now that I have arrived at Bangor, I am not sure whether this ticket allows me to travel on either the Arriva 5C service or the Lloyds Coaches T2 service. TfW rail’s customer service were not helpful and there is no staff at Bangor station to...

    Restriction codes HD and HG

I have planned a journey from Southampton Central to Sheffield over the coming bank holiday and purchased the tickets with a split a Grantham. Explicitly, what I have is 1. a super offpeak return Southampton Central -- Grantham, routed + SWR and Hull trains only, restriction code HD 2. an...

Appropriate fare for a ticket excess

Hello, please accept my apology if this was asked before. I purchased an off peak day return (CDR) ticket from Southampton to Dorking stations routed 00947 "via Barnham," i.e. this ticket. I would like to return via Guildford, therefore decided to excess the route of the return portion into...

26-30 railcard discount for Yarmouth (IoW)

I finally managed to get a response from SWR. They confirmed that the discount rate for 26-30 railcard is deliberately set to 25%, because of the ferry leg. They also confirmed that this special arrangement is only for 26-30 railcard and not for any other railcards. So end of the story. Thanks...

26-30 railcard discount for Yarmouth (IoW)

But then wouldn’t it be rather illogic to raise the fare for 26-30 railcard holders, while giving Network railcard holders the full discount? The former is age-restricted and costs more to buy than the latter. 1633431572 Thanks, this does sound like a workaround. However, my main concern is...

26-30 railcard discount for Yarmouth (IoW)

I do understand this. However, as I mentioned, standard 34% discount does apply to all other types of railcards. Moreover, the 26-30 railcard website explicitly mentioned that this journey is eligible for 1/3 off, which confuses me.
