Hi guys, I passed out from the training school 3 weeks ago now (I'm based at Hitchin), normally we would be allocated a D.I but there are delays so we are route learning and have been told that a wait of about 3 months for a D.I should be expected! There are two groups ahead of us also...

I'm about to start my last week of core traction, they are pulling trainees through as quick as they can but there aren't enough DI's to go around at the moment. The group ahead of me have been waiting since Christmas for DI's, they've been out shadowing a driver instead of getting their hours...

Having been on the course for 9 weeks I can tell it's no walk in the park and you have to put in a lot of effort to pass the weekly exams. If you get any question wrong they are marked for review and you must get those questions right or face dismissal. Don't come into this job thinking it will...

Absolutely fine chap, practiced the group bourdon test but that was it!

Smudge the first week and a half are simply an induction, 3 days at Kentish Town then over to Hornsey to get settled into your classroom. Very easy stuff! We're in week 3 now, had our PTS exam on Friday - we all passed. Just starting on our introduction to rules now, where the hard work begins...

Hi mate, thanks for the info! I start my training at Hornsey on Monday, my depot will be Peterborough. My plan during training is to take the 10 minute drive to Huntingdon train station to get to work, but my question is will GTR pay for the parking at the train station every day? The charges...

I'll be taking the train from Huntingdon, it's all paid for and I believe you get paid to travel to Hornsey as my depot is at Peterborough. Also got told refs are paid for too, bonus!

Us Peterborough lot are training at Hornsey next month...

It seems that all train drivers will be ex police at this rate!haha. I leave Northants on the 8th October after 7 years service.
