Norwich train station Platform Staff jobs

Well I think I will definitely send out a few just to be safe. I know it's all mostly done online but sometimes it might be best to stand out a little. Who knows, maybe they have a shortage of one type of staff that they need filling every now and again just to cover. I don't think it can hurt...

    Heritage Railway Guard training

Sometimes its better off to give them a call or go and visit them directly. A lot of the time emails are monitored by volunteers so can easily get lost in their inboxes. I've always found it better to talk to people directly via phone if I'm honest as they are more likely to remember the...

    Heritage Railway Guard training

Hi all, Thank you for your responses. I emailed the rail I'm looking to progress with and they sent me a list of the subjects that you cover as a guard. The documents outlines the following: Personal Track Safety Signing on and off correctly Reading Notices/Prepare for duty Locating train...

Hi all, Just wondering, I'm looking to send in a letter of interest to be held for consideration if any platform staff jobs pop up. However, I'm not sure who I would address this too at the station? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Heritage Railway Guard training

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of becoming a Guard for the Mid-Norfolk railway. I'm going to be doing my PTS at the end of this month and then go on their Crossing Keeper course in May, before progressing. However, I just thought that I would pop on here and see what sort of...

    Life on the Bluebell

So... For those that know me, you'll know that I am looking in to becoming a guard. I live quite close to the Bluebell Railway, so have decided that I will try my hand at voluntary guarding there! Anyone currently in a guard position, or platform staff etc and can give me an insight in to...

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

All sounds pretty tiring but good. Long shifts don't really bother me as some of the things I've done for work have had me up 22 hours making sure an 18 year old doesn't get stabbed. So the shift pattern doesn't worry me nor the long journeys on trains here and there etc. The best thing...

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

Yeah the sexy trains kind of thing is just a personal like of the trains. I know it's all basically the same role and so on so forth. I don't mind commuting either to be fair. Living in Coulsdon (Might soon be Crawley, or another close town) isn't a problem for pretty much every route you...

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

Oooh I see. Obviously waterloo would be the best option. But either way it would a commute in to the centre of London to start work if working for any TOC other than Southern. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- And what's the pay like for South West?

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

I guess it just depends on the employer about laser surgery. I could get contacts I suppose and have my specs handy. They're just a pain. And which routes do you sign Monty?

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

That's true. Trouble is I don't want to keep wearing glasses as they keep getting in the way. So I would prefer laser surgery. But I don't want it to discount me any jobs. And do you have to start as a non commercial or is it role dependant?

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

What's the difference between the two? I was looking at SW, would deffo be an option.

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

Oh really? Was just going by what was on the website. May give Virgin a go then.

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

I get its fine if you have glasses. But I would have thought laser eye surgery would have been better as it's a perminant fix? And I did look at Virgin, but they only recruit internally.

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

Looking at London Midland, how come they wont accept people that have been treated for near sightedness? I've just gotten glasses for being near sighted (im not totally blind, it's just pretty fuzzy over longer distances) Just wondering why that was?

Best TOC to work for (Guard)

Just exploring my options really. I love Norwich since that's my home town, but I quite like it down here in the south. And the Class 377's are too gorgeous to leave unless needed. scott118 I want to really gain an understanding of the best company from people employed by them. Since there...
