Funny you say that because I've known 2 GA washers do absolutely nothing as well, Orient Way and Ilford...

    Carriage Washers

Hi all, Every single train washer plant I've ever come across on the railways seems to do absolutely nothing apart from get the train wet. Even dirt that if you ran a finger along the side would come off easily seems to not be touched. What gives?

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

Well that's fine, but this is what is resulting in units with no first class or buffet operating on the GE services, a common fleet would mean you know what's coming when your train pulls in. As for catering being based out of Norwich, surely it's not beyond the feat of man to hire some London...

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

The 379's have quite a decent first class, but it was only really the commuters (and not many at that) who used it.

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

Have also heard this from a few sources. Makes total sense, but surely this must add quite a lot of money to the cost? The cab is the most expensive part right? Personally I reckon they should have taken the coaches from the fixed 10's and lengthened some of the 5's to be 8/9 (in "legacy stock"...

Class 321 on West Anglia platforms at Liverpool Street

None of the platforms at Liverpool St are "dedicated" as such, some are not as long as others which affects what stock may use it, but otherwise anything can pretty much use any platform.

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

If I remember rightly, the Hertford is booked at Broxbourne at xx15/45, then xx18/48 at Rye House, with the next airport booked to pass cheshunt at around xx15/44 so theres really no need to go flat out on the airport, as otherwise you'll get checked down at Waltham Cross. The linespeed from...

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

On the Stansted Express a lot of it boils down to not going at linespeed constantly. Departing Tottenham on the down road there's no point in getting up to 85 to just catch up the Hertford eg along the valley, also gives the Signaller a better chance of sorting out the crossings.

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

As I understand it they'll only work on Norwich trains once or twice per day, early am or late pm to cycle the Stansted units back to crown point, once the whole fleet is in service proper it should be more or less entirely each subclass on its respective route

Has the future of GA's class 317/321s been decided?

A friend saw one of the PRM mod 317 units the other day, unusual toilet style but looks decent from the photo

Suggestions for solving Greater Anglia rolling stock shortage

I think at this point, as far as Anglia is concerned, trying to deploy *another* fleet of trains, even temporarily would be impossible, not just because of having to train staff on *another* fleet, not to mention maintenance and depot capacity, train planning and everything else. As for the...

Could there be an future use for GA Class 317/321s? Suggestions and predictions welcome

The really are completely life expired these days, I hope they go direct to scrap

    C2C Part time drivers wanted

part time or reduced hours doesn't always have to mean condensing days, I know of several drivers who's reduced hours agreement means they work the same amount of days as full time, but on much shorter, specific jobs. I'd also suspect ASLEF would be in favour of this, as it creates greater...
