Greater Anglia Good and Bad Discussion

I'm finally on one of the 360's with the new seat covers. I have to say they look a hell of a lot better in reality than the initial pics. Colour scheme is a very neutral grey. The general "green" appearance in the first pics must have been poor white balance. I like them. George

I had hoped to see the new seat covers on the 16:52 Clacton service (a 360) today from Stratford but I didn't. As I tend to stand on my journeys between Stratford and Chelmsford (by choice - this may sound odd/strange but I actually find it a fun personal challenge to complete the journey...

A certain banned user would, perhaps, be insisting on real wood parquet flooring and solid oak panelling in first class.... or maybe not...

I agree..... What was wrong with the original colour scheme? At least it co-ordinated with the rest of the vehicle. Perhaps the person responsible should have their eye sight checked - I think they may be a bit colour blind.... That is the only thing (beyond shockingly bad taste) to...

Overground/Crossrail takeover of Greater Anglia inners

Ah... The "Commercial Confidentiality" used to hide all manner of evils under privatisation of formerly publicly owned services. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I've no idea if Oyster systems are able to do this or not, and if they are if any use is made of it, but wouldn't...

Overground/Crossrail takeover of Greater Anglia inners

The initial wording in the "About TFL Rail" website page said something like (can't remember the exact wording) "one station, Shenfield, is outside of London". Last time I looked (Monday) Brentwood was still there between Harold Wood and Shenfield, is outside of the M25 and most definitely NOT a...

Overground/Crossrail takeover of Greater Anglia inners

What I want to know is this.... When Cross Rail finally take over from TFL Rail, will they get someone in who has some knowledge of geography? It seems TFL Rail STILL can't accept that Brentwood both exists and IS NOT in London.... A minor point perhaps, but it does DOUBLE the number of...

Glad I missed the GBRail fiasco at Chelmsford on the 6th! My flat overlooks Chelmsford station (well the London end) and didn't hear any shouts of "Thunderbirds are GO!..... Not GO!..... Maybe..... Yes!.... No..... Anyone have a new elastic band?"....

I stand corrected (or more accurately sit). My excuse is I'm a new member so have a bit of catching up to do. I appreciate your wisdom!:)

Rather BAU this evening - Business As Usual.... I was planning to get an earlier train this evening, the 16:52 (Harwich) from Stratford but no - cancelled. As was the one I would normally get, the 17:16 (Harwich). Luckily (for me), the 16:39 (Ipswich) was late (just missed that) but it meant I...

The day of the great "Broken down train North East of Chelmsford" fiasco, now that WAS carnage. "Content free" platform announcements, nobody seeming to know anything, one empty train that went through Stratford towards Chelmsford WITHOUT even stopping (and no explanation - tempers would have...

Why would the green box be having an "identify crisis" LOL --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Did you demand to see his first class ticket? You should have

Ok (at the risk of descending into farce LOL).... TWO bottles of Gallo Family (Ernst and Julio must have kicked the bucket) California Chardonnay.... But back to the trains..... Hehehe

"Lord" Sugar must be fuming! His HQ being snubbed like that! LOL Actually the "roving" ticket sellers are great, once they grasp the concept of "Off Peak Day Return to Zone 2-3 for TOMORROW". Even they say the ticket machines are, and I quote "C**P". "I'd quite happily swap you your 321's...

Does that mean they DID attend or they did NOT? Oddly before the franchise became Greater Anglia I remember most delays being caused by Anglia Railways clapped out InterCity trains. Most of which, with marginally updated loco, are still running and STILL causing delays. Really - slam doors...

I'd agree.... In fact the worst 321s I've travelled on seem to be cast-offs from other regions (i.e. TOCs), judging by the different upholstery and weird (first class seats in standard class, then standard class 2+2 seats, then back to the usual 3+2) seating. I've yet to travel on the...

Interesting.... In which case: Why does the AGA website seem to imply there is Norwich and "some bits in between"? Also why the HUGE web site promotion of advance fares NOT available to most AGA customers UNLESS they catch one of the Norwich intercity trains? (Nice place BTW - had a...

Which bit? Richard knows his job? Jamie is "nice but dim"? (not my impression from the replies I've received from him via Simon Burns MP) Or Kowtowing to GA is the way forward? George ;)

As a newcomer to the forum I can appreciate the comments about "vendetta" (or similar) against AGA etc. Considering my initial post you would think I was another one... But apart from my "gripes" about the ticket machines, of the three TOCs I've experienced in travelling from Chelmsford into...
