Where else in the UK could tramways/light rail be installed?

The opportunity to use trams in Teesside has been suggested in the past and should be reconsidered.

    Single-track station on double-track railway?

It’s actually the third platform. Platform 1 is a bay used on Sundays for the Darlington service.

How common are dividing trains in the UK?

The weekday 0614 2D04 Darlington to Saltburn divides at Middlesbrough. The front becomes 2D83 to Whitby. Whether the front set is open or not I don’t know. Possibly not.

New Year's Day 2024 in the North East

According to the National Rail Rules it’s a compulsory stop on down trains. Page 206 https://sacuksprodnrdigital0001.blob.core.windows.net/operational-rules/Operational%20Rules/TPR%202023/V1/TPR%202023%20V1%20LNE.pdf

    Ishihara Test Failure Medical

“As it stands currently”. That’s the point. Ishihara is not diagnostic. If air and sea have proper tests why not rail? To me getting proper and fair good practice is a significant role of a union.

    Ishihara Test Failure Medical

Ishihara is a screening test not a diagnostic one. I don’t know what the regulations for rail say, but for aviation and seafaring the definitive tests are more complex and are based on light sources, traditionally for seafarers a Lantern Test, but now one based on a computer array at a...

    Posting parcels containing letters.

There are special rates for “printed papers” which should not include personal correspondence. I think it’s just for overseas only.

Aslef strikes and OT ban called…

Just looked at the SI laid before parliament. Bizarrely a priority route shows Darlington to Saltburn via Teesside Airport and Middlesbrough. Darlington, Saltburn and Middlesbrough makes sense, but it looks like the civil servant concerned saw airport and assumed priority.

LNER CAF fleet: predictions, suggestions etc

Does it sit as a fast from York? If so why is it scheduled for the Sunderland GC to overtake it between Grantham and Peterborough? 10 cars from/to Middlesbrough would make use of the extended platform which I believe was required to allow the service even though it’s always been 5 cars...

    Britrail

I have family coming from North America over Christmas and they wish to travel by train in UK including from Heathrow to the north. Options to save cost seem to include a family rail card and BritRail. I can’t find out the cost of BritRail so I can help them choose as the pages are blocked...

Railcard app version suddenly not supported

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/railcard-app-version-suddenly-not-supported.250047 Not quite the same problem but it has similarities. Some time ago I paid for my station parking online and came back to find a penalty notice. I appealed and was told that I had...
