    Washwood Heath yard

Passed by on Friday 1st March and the wagons appeared to be in the process of being reduced to scrap metal. Cheaper than dragging to EMR presumably?

Are some heritage railways becoming too money orientated?

Have you considered contacting the NYMR regarding their pricing regime? Too be honest having just received the annual accounts (minority shareholder) their passenger numbers seem to be holding up.

Barry Scrapyard - Steam Locomotive Graveyard.

A weekend of extremes on the 8th April 1969 had a nostalgic walk down all the lines of steam and diesel locos at Barry. Biggest surprise was to find 71000 minus tender. Intrigued by the names of preservation groups painted on so many locos. Then on the 9th drove over to Filton to see the first...

    Big train little train

Might be No 6 Douglas from Talyllyn doing the rounds. Painted in RAF blue to celebrate 100 years since the service was founded. The loco is visiting the NYMR Autumn steam gala (carried on a flat wagon in the demonstration goods train).

    What’s happened to the NRM?

Similar feelings here. I understand the need to obtain funds with a nominal free entry scheme but when the catering side outways the railway exhibits then I will not be returning. Seems the NRM has lost the lost the plot somewhere along the line. As the title includes the word National I would...

Could Tornado go for Mallard's speed record?

The NYMR is not closed just no rail access from Middlesbrough. The NYMR is closed until the 24th March so should not incur any problems. Depending on how long repairs to the bridge take I would suggest the only inconvenience would be a delay to the Esk Valley run for 'Reptons' NR certificate.

    Princess Elizabeth on the move

Any chance this was passing through Burton on Trent yesterday about 11.20am? Passed a maroon steam engine and diesels on a Cross Country service to Derby.

    Ecclesbourne Valley Railway 2017 Plans

Similar to me, an utter relevation when I visited some years back and have been a regular visitor ever since. The SBR is definitely Tamworth’s hidden jewel. N.B. This is a private railway and visits are by invitation only via their web site.
