If you mean train operator it’s the only way. But yes like most jobs once your in and pass your probation etc your free to move about as you wish

Personally I’d say the biggest threat to the driving grade going forward, particularly for new starters, would be a potential degrading of the pension and more weekend work with Sundays included at all TOCs. Job security I wouldn’t be too concerned with although nothing is ever 100%. Any other...

Pay, pensions and t&c’s will change on the railways soon - they (the gov) are set on it…to what degree though..who knows! Just a friendly warning that things prob won’t stay as good as they are now.
