Freightliner Intermodal after trainee drivers across UK

The freight industry is on its knees? Are you for real? Coal is a dying market sure, but it's place to a lesser degree is being taken by moving biomass. I doubt GBRF or Colas would agree that the industry is on its knees.

GN train hits buffers at Kings Cross

Nice attitude. "They should shoulder some responsibility " 95% of trainees are spot on, 5% somehow get through when they shouldn't.

GN train hits buffers at Kings Cross

My concern is mainly for the DI who may have years of experience behind him and a nature for wishing to nurture his trainees rather than a confrontational attitude. He may be kicking himself today for not intervening and until we know the facts I'll not comment further on his particular...

What's the most powerful Locomotive on UK Rails?

58s for a type 5 were pretty dissapointing to be honest, had lots of wheelslip issues amongst other reliability issues.

What's the most powerful Locomotive on UK Rails?

I regularly drive class 60 and 70 locos. The 70s are prone to low speed slipping but always cope well and settle down above 10 mph. The class 60 are sure footed and far less likely to slip so it's horses for courses. In overall performance, the 70 has the edge over the 60 in every way. 66s...

Freightliner Intermodal after trainee drivers across UK

Saw it happen under Mengel and Heller at what used to be EWS. It's the American way, maximise profits by witholding investment and sweating the assets.

Freightliner Intermodal after trainee drivers across UK

Check out your ASLEF notice case, FLHH are in deep doo doo. 50% loss of work = lots of drivers sat at home doing nothing. The proposal is to merge or transfer them to Intermodal who have a shortage of drivers.

Freightliner Intermodal after trainee drivers across UK

After what I have just read, some of you guys may be a little disappointed. Due to a loss of approximately 50% of Heavy Hauls work (predominantly coal) it looks like a merger of FLI and FLHH could be on the cards and/or redundancies. I expect outside recruitment will be put on hold for the time...

How much to save a class 58

Colas do not lease any locomotives except the ten class 70s, all other locos in their fleet are owned outright, including the class 66s. As for buying class 58s, there would need to be a solid business case for buying them. Simply put, there isn't and in any case they would require a lot of...

Freightliner Intermodal after trainee drivers across UK

Good luck to all of you who are applying for Freightliner trainee drivers posts. I was until a month ago a driver with Intermodal. If you like anti social hours and the lowest wage in the freight industry then it's the company to go for. That's the negative bit! The positives are worth having...
