I can confirm that yesterday we were told that there are back to back courses lined up and they have moved driver managers into the academy to keep the courses moving and to avoid any delays. Keep your ears and eyes peeled on emails/voicemails!

    Virgin Trains Recruitment

Complete the application in full, the initial application sift is one of the biggest hurdles to get through.

SPADs and the prospect of being easily sacked.

Yes I agree with the above post, I wanted to thank you all again for your experience and insights, it’s helped make things a little more clear! Back to the books! (Again) ;)

We are currently going through training at the moment and we spoke to some of the managers last week. One of the managers told us that he has X amount of depot positions to fill due to mainline promotion and retirement and that the course before ours, our course and the course due behind us...

Yes Jimmy are you correct. Stage 4 is pass or fail, no enhancements. The MMI is probably the hardest part of stage 4. It can be quite intense, my best advice would be to think of scenarios in your past life which would demonstrate the skills required by a train driver and drill them into your...

SPADs and the prospect of being easily sacked.

Hi guys and girls, I wondered if any experienced drivers could draw some insight into SPAD’s and sackable offences due to mistakes etc on the railway. I myself, am lucky enough to be going through trainee driver training at the moment (only week 1 so far and really enjoying it). One thing...

Just to touch on what Dynamonic mentioned, those of us who went through the process first also had a delay from when we found out. I found out that I had made it through to the next stage before some others did on here and they had the same nerves and anxiety you must be feeling now. A day or...

The worst bit is sitting around waiting for the email to pop through and avoiding checking your emails every hour! Try to put the day out your mind now, there’s nothing worse than sitting there thinking “I should have said this, why did I say that” as it’s totally out of your control now!

Well done to all that took part in Stage 2 today. I personally found the speed interview one of the hardest elements of the process. Those lucky enough to go ahead to Stage 3 with the DMI please don’t worry too much, the DM’s were absolutely lovely. Good luck!

Top tip is to not get in your head too much as you line up outside to do the speed interviews. Focus on the question at hand and don’t get distracted, the room is very busy and there are about 5 other people also answering questions so it’s easy to get distracted. It lasts one minute for each...

Just wanted to let the guys know who are on the March course that my urine results have come back and I received an email from Marie confirming I’ve passed the medical. AAAAANDDD BREATH! Finally, the last stage is over! I’m so blooming excited! I hope you other guys have heard something back.

They wanted you to circle the two shapes that are the same and ignore the other combinations whilst counting the tones (only one tone on that stage if I remember correctly). Did you get through the shapes whilst managing to count the tones?

For all the hopefuls going through stage 1 at the moment, if the timelines are anything like ours who have just completed the process, expect to be informed if you are successful at each stage once all of the candidates have completed that stage. Therefore if you take it on Monday and the final...

With regards to the urine screening that gets sent away to be tested, does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the results to come back? How do they let us know that you have passed the urine test and have the green light for the course and handing your notice in? Good luck all!

Hi everyone, Just to update those of you who have recently made it into the talent pool from the assessments just passed. I received a phone call today from the lovely Marie to get me booked in for a medical at the start of Janurary, with an offer of a course date on March 26th. It seems...

I have to say EMT really do impress me with their recruitment process. Not only have they just put 100’s of people through intense process’, all to time frame and all done like a well oiled machine, they have now prepared for and set up the next round already before Christmas. Good luck to you...

EMT seem to have been spot on with their time management and timelines so far. On the time lines they mentioned medicals staking place from Jan 2nd 2017 so it makes me think that have been preparing courses for our group from the off set. As Raul_Duke said though, we could be waiting a lot...

    Passed Psychometric Tests....failed interview??

If your tests are within date you would only have to complete the DMI. Some TOC’s only accept assessments with a 2 year validity so you may find that since you took them in 2013 you may have to complete the entire process again I’m afraid.
