    GWR the day after strikes

On previous weekday strike days, there has been one train an hour from London to Bristol, and one train every two hours from Bristol to Cardiff. From memory, the connection at Bristol was something like 20 minutes. Nothing ran directly from London to Cardiff. No idea how this will change...

There is a lift at the rear. Please see my post above.

    Birmingham New Street

There are two options at the B end of the platforms. One is a very basic footbridge, which you are referring to. However, the other is the main connections concourse, which has escalators and lifts, and is very easy to use.

Unpaid fare notice from TransPennine for honest mistake which only caused inconvenience for me

£36.80 is the price of an Anytime Day Single from York to Manchester. Despite the wording in the letter, I don't believe they're charging any admin fees here.

Poor pay offer to send GWR and LNER trains off the rails

Does the announced strike impact GWR? The three depots named in the press release are presumably LNER depots, but there's mention of other workers striking too. Sorry if this is obvious to others!

Aslef strikes and OT ban called…

GWR suggesting people travelling to watch Bath versus Exeter "visit Bath on another day". Not sure they entirely understand how rugby fixtures work. :D

Zurich to Milan EuroCity routeing questions

Hi folks. I'm planning on travelling from Zurich to Milan, and later on to Rome, on Sunday 21st January. I know that one tube of the Gotthard base tunnel has re-opened, but I'm not sure which trains are using it. Therefore, I have the following questions on routeing: Question 1: Online...

    GWR PAYG

Thanks folks. They also seem to have correctly filled in the blanks in my record for Monday and Tuesday and charged me the correct amount.

    GWR PAYG

Does anyone know what's been going on this week? I haven't been able to tap in or out at Bristol Temple Meads, and staff have told me there's a nationwide issue with ticket gates, however I have been able to tap in and out at Bristol Parkway.

    CrossCountry double booked seats

I travel on XC all the time and have never witnessed this. Every time I've seen two people who thought they had reserved the same seat, one of them always has the wrong seat/carriage/time/service/date.

    London to Cardiff friday 1/9

When I've travelled between Bristol and London, it's been just like normal - there are reservations in place, but lots of unreserved seats too. I wouldn't expect reservations on the Bristol to Cardiff leg, but that's just an educated guess.

    London to Cardiff friday 1/9

My experiences of travelling between London and Bristol on strike days is that the trains are busy but not crush-loaded. As ever, the best approach is to arrive at Paddington early, wait on the bridge, and once the train is announced head to the very front of the train. The vast majority of...

Voyager experience not as bad as expected

I've never noticed them being dirty, but then my standards may be low as the other trains I use for work are turbos, which are utterly filthy!

Voyager experience not as bad as expected

I commute on them daily. Get a pair of seats to yourself and they're very pleasant. However they feel very cramped when you're sat next to a stranger. The first class carriage is also superb - I can't think of a better one on the network.
