    Where is this please?

Yes, that's possibly what I thought, area of the country I would guess is south Wales or the South West, we never went much further on family holidays. The structures (tunnel, platform, track) do give a sense of perminence, but then again lots can change over 30 years I guess.

Do train guards ever 'nod off'?

170 cabs are great for guards; in winter on a really early; quick ticket check then blinds down, heater on full, revolve seat, recline seat, feet on the second man's seat, set alarm for 2 mins before first stop. Absolute bliss.

Trainee Depot Driver East Midlands Trains

For anyone following this one, the union have apparently finished their risk assessments and in-cab training is recommencing 3rd August so anyone waiting in talent pools should get some news or movement soon.

It's not linked to the driving grade but shunters have become drivers. Two failures at the OPC would not prevent you getting the job. It's a superb job with great promotional prospects. I'd take it and hope they reform the driving application procedure and reset the failure counts again (this...

Trainee Depot Driver East Midlands Trains

Just a rumour at this point. No mainline offers have been made and no start dates given. ASLEF nationally, not just at a local level, still has a ban on members being 2 in a cab apart from in very exceptional circumstances. This is apparently unlikely to change until further COVID restrictions...

    EMR December timetable changes?

From what I hear it is completely dependent on the current crisis. Kettering depot training and the Corby timetable certainly taking priority over anything on the locals side.

EMR - Trainee Depot Drivers - Derby and Nottingham Talent Pool

No idea. With emr it's not a set gbt pass mark, you've got to pass everything in stage 1 (not difficult) AND be in probably the top 25% of scores in the gbt of all the 500 stage 1 candidates to get through to stage 2. It's all about the gbt with emr, heard recently they believe there is a direct...

The "bonus" is of course that if you keep failing it you get yet another week off trains on full pay to "try again", I mean really really try again lol....

Trainee Depot Driver East Midlands Trains

You'll just have to do the GBT again. Pretty sure this 'enhanced score' thing is nonsense. EMT use the same passmark as every other TOC. They use the GBT to progress the number of candidates they want to for stage 2. i.e. if they have 200 people who have passed stage 1 (either with them or...

Trainee Depot Driver East Midlands Trains

I've always felt that the idea that tonnes of people are in the talent pool is utter nonsense. It's usually 2-3 course loads. I think I remember a recent intake had the figures - 2200 applicants, 500 stage 1 (GBT etc) , 80 stage 2 (speed interviews etc), 40 DMI, 24 stage 4 (mmi etc) of which...

Yeah, takes it to a 36 head count from what i was told. 5 new shed drivers are in training already at Notts, takes the Derby lot a couple of extra weeks to cover the extra traction theory (HST, 222 etc)
