No Horsham-Peterborough service Saturday 2nd March

There have a lot of route learning trips over the last week which I guess was to get enough necessary drivers route qualified. Certainly made East Croydon busy yesterday weaving trains through the layout before other events overtook the train plan.

    Gatwick Airport station upgrade

Interesting as the previous platform 6 could fit a 12 car going southbound and the platform was lengthened slightly at the London end when they altered the layout.

No Horsham-Peterborough service Saturday 2nd March

Southern terminate 3 trains an hour in platform 5, platform 2 gets used for ad-hoc Southern mainline trains that are running too late for London Victoria. I don’t think I’ve signalled a Thameslink train into the Norwood Pertibation siding since covid massacred the service, when the Three Bridges...

No Horsham-Peterborough service Saturday 2nd March

Off subject, but Reigate siding had to be used today when the Redhill lines were shut due to a suspected landslide.

    Drivers v Signallers

I would prefer qualified drivers over trainee drivers making a visit to our ASC as they will ask more probing questions and require for more in depth answers, especially junction working, rare shunt moves and we can show them where we have signalling overlap issues that prevent multi routes...

    Signalling Codes

Correct, well at least at our Signalling centre.

    Three Bridges/Victoria Automatic Route Setting

Both Three Bridges ROC and Three Bridges ASC were supposed to getting TMS and ARS and in fact 12 new signaller jobs were created for that role 6 at each location. That never happened for various technical and financial reasons. Then a new type of ARS well TMS without the controllers desks (so...

    Three Bridges/Victoria Automatic Route Setting

Not even a working prototype yet.

    Three Bridges/Victoria Automatic Route Setting

Three bridges ASC’s original 1980s ARS (panel 5 only) was switched off at privatisation. The new ARS is still in the signalling contractors main frame PC waiting for further funding to make it work. However Three Bridges ROC has ARS on some if not most of their workstations now.

    A career as a signaller

Worked the East Coastway signalboxes until I moved to Three Bridges and now live near enough on top of Bo-Peep signalbox.

    New Signalling, ROC's

I would say it was in the “1994 signallers restructuring agreement” where they moved the training allowance, which we got paid on a shift by shift basis for training signallers (along with many other allowances) into our basic pay. can be found on the RMT website under signallers agreements.

    Signalling Codes

It’s just a note on who is the sidings DP (designated person) when they are on duty as they all have individual contact numbers. Not all signallers will interpose the name.

    A career as a signaller

Appledore is controlled be Ashford IECC and there is no signalbox at Frant, and Bo-Peep is nearer Hastings than Bexhill, all the rest is correct. One oddity is that Tonbridge no longer controls Tonbridge itself as that was taken over by Ashford IECC in the 90s
  14. Sunset route

    Signalling Codes

It’s not a sidings possession or any other type of possession.

What does -ISO mean on the railway?

It’s not a code and we can generally write whatever we want to write within reason, to remind ourselves of whatever we need to remind ourselves of :D

    South Croydon speed limit

    It’s been fixed

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

The talk at work is that the CARS project has been scrapped indefinitely, especially as the current train service and train lengths don’t warrant it anymore.

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

We don’t have a platform 8 at Norwood Junction.

    A career as a signaller

In both the case of TBASC and TBROC the local management always seem to advertise internally and externally at the same time for reasons better known to themselves.

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

Platform 6 at Norwood Junction is in constant use, however platform 7 on the other side of the island platform has been out of use for well over 40 years.
