    Gatwick Express services

Funnily enough, that is the idea they are considering implementing, to maximise the usage of paths and capacity, the bonus of the portion working is that it guarantees the valuable/impressionable airport passengers a seat, while also still providing a decent amount of seats on the BTN - GTW...

    Strike action called off

As has been previously said however - it is quite something when even a Conservative 'coalition' government was on the side of the drivers, in regards that a reduction in pension contributions was not the best of ideas in the current economic climate. Still good to see that things have been...

    New S7 Underground stock

That is rather an interesting solution, though one I feel may be more susceptible to interruption/corruption than a purely onboard system, or purely offboard!

More Rail Bashing From Daily Mail

Love the comment "Couldn't the driver have just changed lanes?"

    Oh dear on the ECML

Yes but the set's have cabs at both ends, and my meaning is that the driver changed ends and into the DVT's cab and attempted to take power from there, suggesting that there may have been a problem with the cab controls or safety systems in the 91's north facing cab.

    Etiquette on overcrowded trains

Hate to say it JonMorris, as much as I respect your posts, why not use the equally free space on the platform to walk the distance towards the exit without having to clamber through the aisles etc to leave the train , at least you get the maybe 100m walk in some fresh air rather than train air...

377 Subclasses - out of curiosity

Indeed, and it has just been the point of discussion in another thread (forgive me if I don't link, not great at doing all this forum stuff!)

    Etiquette on overcrowded trains

Birmingham sounds rather polite still then, try seeing commuter behaviour in London, they can form a phalanx tighter than a roman legion around every set of doors!

"Fewer than 70% of trains on time"

A little bit simplistic of an argument perhaps, but yes I don't think the story should be coming across as negative as it is, in this country we run some of the highest intensity services in the world, particularly mostly on more traditional (and to me, safer, but that is for another topic)...

MITRAC runs on Windows 3? :)

Believe earlier 377's do indeed operate on Windows 3.1, whereas the 377/5's are on Windows 98 (I think) - know you do see a Windows screen when auxing on, never had a blue screen of death yet however!

    Plane Bashing

To be fair I used Delta on my Vegas trip just the other week and found their service and fares rather excellent, never had a problem at all on all four flights! Added attraction of my routing was my first 767's, and not any 767 but the rather rare 767-400ER both ways across the pond, rather...

Trent Barton Press Statement after Passenger Raped after being kicked off Bus.

What I find horrendous is the fact that the girl suffered such an assault that her mother didn't recognise her - and yet that is worth a short sentence in the bottom of the article compared to the tirade about the "Gross feeling of injustice" and the evil of the nasty horrible bus driver.

    Keeping to the Timetable..

Ditto, I think I probably brake early for a lot of places, and allow boarding/departing pax rather a lot of time, but if I can keep safe I'm not going to worry about a minute or two here and there, just wish a lot of the passengers would relax a bit when they rant on twitter about our 'shoddy'...

Yet more signalling issues affecting FCC (11/05/2012)

Pleased that they are now terminating the Sevenoaks trains at City, did think that would be a sensible solution myself to minimize the amount of trains passing through Kentish Town - the problem is at Carlton Rd. Junction I believe.

Union announces 6 strike dates for EMT drivers

HH has quite succinctly posted exactly what I meant earlier, if it HAD to be done there would be no dispute, but because EMT are wanting it done to save a few pennies, that is why there is a bit of a problem. At least that is the way the situation is being read in my opinion, other opinions may...

Union announces 6 strike dates for EMT drivers

So, Captain Speaking, in that final statement you have quoted exactly why ASLEF have had a disagreement with the EMT management. The over-funding may not last, so members would prefer to keep contributions as they are so that they can hope for a more stable pension fund. I am sure that if it...

    LO Chaos

More than likely a Neutral Section to break up different power feeds to the OHLE, when a train passes through the section the Vacuum Circuit Breaker opens to prevent the train drawing a feed across the dead section, then re-closes after the train is clear. This is controlled by magnets alongside...

    Waterloo inner suburban longer trains?

I quite like the idea of a 455/456 combo where each Driving car is mounted cab outwards at the end of a 455 making a 5-car unit that you can still walk through, although I do think that it would take a bit of re-engineering for that to work!

    Funny Guard Announcements.

Not as bad as me this morning, arriving into London Bridge, "Good Evening ladies and Gentlemen.... Oh hold on, been on a night shift, this is the morning!" or some words to that effect, the joys of nights!
