    Class 395 Refresh

Same with ÖBB’s Railjets (in all other respects one of the most comfortable and well appointed of any European train).

    Storm Henk travel disruption 02/01/24

I'm in South Lincs and the road outside my house is completely underwater. I hate to think what it's like further east onto the Fens.

Disruption on HS1 due to signalling problems caused by flooding in the Thames Tunnel.

Although I’d support this, I would suggest this is the least realistic of any of the suggestions on here :D

Heritage railways with pre-BR rolling stock that public can regularly ride?

There’s quite a bit of Swedish and Wagons-Lits stock at the NVR.

    Best boat journey?

Portsmouth - St Malo is another one for those who enjoy dramatic port departures and arrivals. Travelling with Brittany Ferries is always enjoyable too.

    Best boat journey?

I enjoyed Lausanne - Evian back in the late 90s when the onward trains from Evian were a completely random assortment of ancient dark green UIC and USI stock.

Thameslink Peterborough line Sunday & bank holiday timetable

Unfortunately they are still worked by 700s even when they terminate at KX.

Trivia: Stations that primarily serve business parks

It’s a slightly odd suggestion but what about Lower Sydenham? It’s surrounded by a surprisingly industrial area for an outer London suburb and a fair hike from anything residential.

19/12/23 Not a great day for the ECML

I guess I was lucky to escape all of this… was on the 1600 from Edinburgh and arrived bang on time in Peterborough after an exemplary run!

    Caledonian Sleeper

I was just excited to actually get a seat in the Lowland club car!

    Caledonian Sleeper

I know this is an old thread but last night the whiskies ranged from £10-£12.

    Pointless journeys in London

Nunhead - Brockley is another one that's about 15 minutes' walk but not straightforward by rail.

    Prettiest Stations in the UK

Another vote for Lewes here. Stamford is pretty attractive too.

    Large size Intercity rail tickets

Were these ELGAR tickets or am I conflating two things?

LNER's new CAF fleet: what should it be called?

CAF are a Basque company so how about “Ekialdea”?

    LNER announce CAF fleet

SNCF have just ordered something similar from CAF for Paris-Toulouse and Paris-Clermont: https://www.railtech.com/rolling-stock/2023/07/24/sncfs-new-oxygene-train-sets-begin-test-phase-before/ No idea if it’s the same platform underneath with a different name or if the Civity platform is...

    Whippet buses Cambridgeshire

Back in the early naughties their fleet was almost entirely ex-London Titans. Made for an interesting experience when the drivers floored it on the A14.

    Stations with roads inside

Indeed - and the MML does seem particularly blessed with good examples (Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield), very skilfully converted in the case of Nottingham.

    Eurostar to Cologne

I’m amazed they understood what you were asking for. Might try the Peterborough ticket office next time I have a E* connection.

    Stations with roads inside

I haven’t been to Paddington for a while, but you certainly used to be able to clearly see the Motorail access road and loading areas on the left when leaving from the low-numbered platforms. Victoria obviously has the taxi rank/short stay car park above the Central side platforms (accessed...
