New Logo for Northern Trains LTD

With that in mind, i wonder if the coloured "n" logo spots on the cab ends of the trains will be dropped too. Going for an all over simple blue and white livery. It would look much smarter.

Why did TPE opt for loco hauled for Nova 3?

As above poster says. Realistically TPE would have ordered more 802's, but the time scales for in service weren't available against their plans... in hindsight with the delays in the 'Nova 3's' launch, that now wouldn't have mattered. So here we are. An odd-ball fleet. But TPE will make use of...

Ex-LNER Mk4 sets for Grand Central (Blackpool - Euston)

It will most likely be a refresh rather than a refurb. More along the lines of new carpet and seating moquette to suit the GC branding. Plus a deep clean to everywhere else.

    LNER Customer Host

Hi. Its along the lines of why LNER and what will you bring to the company, dealing with a difficult situation, a time you received good customer service example etc. Good Luck.

Question regarding Class 68 loco noise level

Having just been near a 68 i was thinking the exact same and then i saw this thread! I completely agree, for a "modern" unit the noise level whilst leaving the platform alone was substantial! Hopefully further 802s will be ordered to replace these, now thar the IET production is slowing down. We...

LNER Class 91/Mk4 service status/withdrawals/2021 refurbishment

I just find all this absolutely crazy when every single day we're getting 5 car 800/801s operating on 9 car schedules. Until all the Azumas are in the fleet, as many if not all remaining 225's need to be retained in service.

    EMR 158s with original seats?

Whilst they look comfortable and well padded, i personally find the grammar seats much better. Still comfortable, better back/neck support and much better privacy which i prefer. Ofcourse as ever it's all subjective.

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

Other than a handful of 800s for the Lincoln and odd off peak "branch line" service, the whole fleet needs to become 9 car standard. I've heard the arguments why not but the need for them far outweighs any benefit of the shorter units. Not to mention the reduced crewing costs and scheduling...

Personal favorite train from the 2010s....

Class 800/1/2's . Seats aside they are <:D

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

That's a daily occurrence on these and Class 331s. Even the doors lock out of use during these "resets" which I find disturbing when technically the trains haven't been set for departure and are still at the platforms.

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

I don't think it is? It's a shame for such a modern train with LED lights not to have mood-style lighting or at least the option to change brightness settings. Again all part of the passenger comfort and experience... Although i was told its to do with EU regulations...

Lumo (East Coast Trains) Class 803 Updates/Discussion

The "battery pack" is an even lighter design than the single diesel engine/generator on the 801s making it more efficient and potentially lower track costs too? It's a "newer" technology also and probably why LNER 801 sets were never ordered with it back on the original procurement. That...

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

I know... Although when it comes to getting a seat or standing, every seat counts! I remember seeing someone worked out that at least 48 additional standard seats (pre these additional luggage racks) could be added to a 9-car set without impacting on the legroom and be comparable to the legacy...

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

With already large legroom in standard on almost ALL seat rows, technically the seating capacity could be kept the same or increased further. Although of course that would come with the reduction of legroom space, but almost certainly just be inline with the legacy fleet.

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

Completely agree. I know theres the argument that the smaller 5-car units would be utilised on routes/services in the day where demand may be lower and to be able to separate on to smaller "branch" lines. However, surely in the bigger scheme of things, that aspect of the argument is outweighed...

Worst and least polluting UK diesel trains currently in passenger service

I think the OP is more referring to the amount of visible exhaust muck/clagg rather than anything actual in-terms of fuel efficiency / emissions.

East Midlands franchise won by Abellio

So i'm presuming 'East Midlands Railway' will be the new brand name for the railway, in-line with most other re-franchised TOCs?

    LNER Azuma (Class 800/801)

I can't believe people actually see these cables as anything but cables. What strange little fluffed up world we have to live in. Both GWR and LNER are government IEP ordered sets.
