    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

On the rosters? It's the start time of your meal relief (lunch break). I think if you have told them about the holidays during the application process they are likely to honour them. Can't help with the rest of your questions, but hopefully someone with recent experience will be along.

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

I guess after 800+ posts there are no new questions... I posted a link to some example rosters less than 1 month ago. Have a search.

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

Such as seeking Ambassador shifts on strike days for extra cash/time off in lieu.

Driver training time Bakerloo v Victoria line

They aim for 12 weeks on the Piccadilly for new trainees (and 8 for cross transfer I think). Of course that depends on Instructor Operator availability, stock availability, and various other things. It's fair to say the 12 weeks is usually stretched.

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

There certainly are, however I remember a female train operator being traumatised by a group of men breaking into her cab and grabbing her wrists, manhandling her in a most threatening way. That was 2018, when I recall the discussions about cab security started really ramping up. One of the Reps...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

TfL staff passes are only valid on Thameslink from Kentish Town through to Elephant and Castle and London Bridge. So you would buy a season ticket from your departure station (Luton/Leagrave?) to Kentish Town (and use your staff pass to exit the barriers at eg King's Cross, Farringdon...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

Effectively, there is only one choice for CSAs, RMT. Union membership is not compulsory, but I would advise it.

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

It was a formal proposition to the Trains Functional Council on 10th May 2023. You forgot the hideous cover week changes. On the new fully integrated rosters: 1 in 10 weeks would be Advanced Cover weeks with 28 days notice of duties and rest days. 1 in 7 would be Flexible Cover weeks, with...

Aslef strikes over Trains Modernisation plan

Worth noting that the RMT have a current mandate (and are in the process of seeking to renew for the 6th time) for the same pensions and working conditions dispute. They haven't announced any future strike days.

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

I agree, I would say Day 1. Joining a union should always a personal choice, however, what I say to people is... You don't have to go looking for trouble on the Underground, trouble can find you. There have been numerous staff members presenting at branch meetings who have gotten into trouble...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

Yes, theoretically the cover weeks can cover stations on the whole group - for example, if I remember correctly, Earls Court is it's own area, but part of a cover group down to Southfields, so you could be required to work at any of those stations. In reality, I don't suppose it happens that...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

You realise that TfL themselves have published this on their own website as part of a FOI request? This is not secret insider knowledge from a covert whistleblower. It's publicly accessible at the link I provided and will provide again unmasked...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

I'm happy to share files that have come from a FOI request, as I know they have been suitably redacted by LU. With that in mind... Here are the shift patterns for numerous stations. If I extract an example of King's Cross (attached), and you go to page 4 you will see the roster for CSA2. It...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Quite. But at least the most you can lose is £15k ;) (The slowest depreciating electric car is the aforementioned Porsche Taycan which loses 37% over 3 years or £30k+) Edit: High depreciation is bad for the original owner, but surely the second and subsequent owners benefit, and this must...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

You get allocated a station group, but as @bluegoblin7 said, you have the opportunity to swap stations with other people within your training group at the time you are all informed. (So for example someone living in Hounslow and being allocated Stratford, could swap with someone living in East...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

The previous Dacia Spring had a dreadful NCAP rating - largely based on cost-cutting when it came to installing the more sophisticated safety technology that modern cars usually have now. I think it was based on a Renault Kwid, a £3000 car sold in India without even an airbag! I couldn't find a...

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Well done. It doesn't do 350 miles on a single charge either.

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

Correct. £33,300 you can thank the RMT for that 9.6% increase.

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

Many of the comments on this lengthy post have been around the need for small, affordable battery electric cars. Rather surprisingly, the Spring was the third best selling BEV in Europe for the whole of 2022 and 2023 . That's quite an achievement, so I would suggest it is a proper car - not all...

    London Underground - CSA1 & CSA2 (2022 & 2023 intake)

You say that with such confidence! As far as I know, nothing has been confirmed. I know the RMT are fundamentally opposed to external recruitment for train ops as it prevents existing CSAs from applying for that line of promotion.
