The only reason I see the sol of any use is to negotiate a settlement outside of the court. If it goes into a hearing and you are found not guilty, your costs should be awarded to you. I do think that they would only pay out at the legal aid rate from central court funds, which may not cover you...

It would depend on whether the op is pleading guilty or not guilty. Though he should receive the application to court and the evidence used along with the summons. If pleading not guilty, it would go to second hearing, at the first hearing you would (or should) agree witness and other evidence...

Firstly you had to redeem the points, 255 for a standard class single ticket. You then got an email confirmation and 6 months to actually book your ticket. I still had 252/3 points that I was unable to exchange.
