ROC - have we created a single point of failure?

Well... lovely discussion on ROC's and it's possible (non) redundancies, but my experience tells me that a contractor with a JCB digger can, inadvertently scupper the best laid out contingency plans to keep a modern railway running!

    Portugal is still interesting!

Still a few 1400s around. They still do some local trains in the North, shunting and some local mainline freight.

    Questions regarding visit to Lisbon

CP Lisbon fares https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/train-times/Prices/tickets Apart from CP IC trains to Alentejo and Algarve, the suburban passenger trains on the 25th April bridge are operated by Fertagus, which is not on the general ticketing system, apart from the pay as you go Zapping...

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

5-5-1-1 You either do it or not. Once you assume a compromise it is up to you to ensure that you will keep up to it unless seriously unforseen circumstances arise (that's my view) but you must be able to do it in a competent and safe maner!

Signal box failure - theoretical question

Some people here clearly haven t ever heard about the extraordinary feats of railway Contractors, just armed with diggers, in screwing all sorts of redundancy!

    French LGV Speeds

the problem is that there isn t much interest in running regularly at 320 km/h as it would mean much more significant brake wear (the main limitation for higher speeds are braking problems ).So the runs, are set for 300 kmh but trains can achieve 320 on certain stretches to recover delays...

    Belgium: train derailed at Leuven

    that is certainly a possibility!

    Belgium: train derailed at Leuven

The derailment clearly occurred after the points. look at the whiter ballast, which means it has been revolved by something. I know this is pretty obvious but it impresses me the short distance between the derailment and the train stopping (probably already in Emergency/ Full braking a few...

    Collision Plymouth 03/04/16

Thank you for reminding us of the drivers duties! Now, can we go back to the discussion about the report and real world facts (as opposed to how the real world should run) ?

Set down only stops on trains on the continent

By virtues of ticketing, you can't get on fast trains between Lisbon Stations

Driverless trains - why limited progress on the national rail network?

Don t forget that the distance from adapting driverless cars to driverless trains ain t that great. You will even be able to have them on a conventionally signalled railway just with communications improvements...

    Accessing personal mobile phone records

probably retrieved from the phone itself... not from whatsapp servers or any other service as their messages are encripted and not even they have access to messages
