Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Glad something is sorted. Obviously learning that the plain clothes officer had ID helps Given the shoddy email formatting there are valid reasons to think it could be a scam and I therefore speculated how it could have been one. The onus should be on GA to do a much more professional job with...

Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Elaborate financial scams can and do happen, certainly phone number spoofing is very much a thing. Also would have guessed Fraud and Investigations would be outside of a train station, in their head office maybe. However the highly unprofessional email gives reason to question its validity, and...

Received email titled "Travel Irregularity" By Greater Anglia

Did this plain clothes officer have any official ID on them? Sounds like an elaborate scam where someone is taking email addresses then sending them a bogus payment portal. My understanding is an address would be taken form what I have seen. Would 100% check the validity independently. Also...

Avanti West Coast Voyager- any reliable times/dates?

They can be used if an Avanti West Coast service to Glasgow is diverted via Dumfries due to engineering work on the WCML. You can spot this if it takes an extra hour to travel from Carlisle to Glasgow!

Delay Repay both legs. Compensation more than ticket price?

I travelled with a Northern complimentary voucher, which was a return. I was then delayed going out by an hour (resulting in a return voucher as part of my claim), and then by over 30 minutes on the return trip (where I could claim a single voucher). I was able to make both claims, so profited...

Stranraer to Larne and Holyhead to Dublin rail tunnels

Assuming it would have included rail, and not just a road link, probably would have to design a train with dynamic garage changing if it was going to run on existing Irish lines. Don't think the proposals got that far though!

    Avanti rejected Delay Repay

Thank you, yes Ayrshire and indeed Kilmarnock.

    Avanti rejected Delay Repay

Avanti being themselves have rejected my delay repay claim for travel on July 23, and only informed me of this recently. The travel was: 1055 Workington 1144 Carlisle 1152 Carlisle 1308 Glasgow Central For travel on Sat 23 July This was delayed by over an hour as the 1152 service was...

Heysham Port ferry connections inbound arrvals

Probably why Holyhead and Harwich International work better, or even Stranraer until the port moved. Those services would run anyway whether there was a port or not, and delayed (or as it happens, earlier arriving) passengers can get the next train.

Heysham Port ferry connections inbound arrvals

Agreed. Not much of a reason to bring a car to the IoM to be honest, it costs a bomb and the island actually has decent public transport plus the port is right in town. A Manx going to the UK might have more of a reason to bring a car though...

Heysham Port ferry connections inbound arrvals

Ulverston to Lancaster was hourly, but now there are gaps in the services. Actually that's a point about departing passengers, the train in does connect better for outbound passengers according to the ferry timetable, but less so for inbound. As departing passengers need to be dropped off first...

Heysham Port ferry connections inbound arrvals

I decided to go o a trip to the Isle of Man, using the rail service that is supposed to connect with it. Outbound there was little issue, although I had a 1h42 wait in Lancaster as there was no later train from Ulverston to connect to it, but the train to Heysham went smoothly. On my return...

CIV protection with a Euro High Saver Return

Be interesting to see where that was said, or if anyone can post it verbatim if it is an internal industry memo. That at least makes it sound like there is de facto ticket protection for connections, though may not protect you if you are stranded and need a hotel. Of course an advance ticket...

Northern Complimentary Travel Pass with other tickets

I have seen that. But think it takes a lot longer?

Northern Complimentary Travel Pass with other tickets

I am planning to travel from Ulverston to Huddersfield using a return Northern pass I received, and the likely journey would be taking a direct Northern train to Manchester Oxford Road and changing. I would have to pay for Manchester to Huddersfield as that route is TPE only. On the outward...

Dalton (Cumbria), it's only one stop and 4 miles away!

CIV protection with a Euro High Saver Return

Given the CIV ticket is quite hard to find, and Eurostar are generally pragmatic about allowing those arriving into London late to use a a later train, has anyone successfully been able to board a later train than their UK TOC advance ticket allowed on their return into the UK, due to the...

Digital railcard not usable on expiry date

Got another reply when I wrote back. Absolutely no will to amend what should be an easy fix. "Thanks for your response to the query registered with us. I was sorry to learn that the 26-30 Railcard should allow you access up until 23:59 of the expiry date and not expire on Sunday, 07 August...
