    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

Yes, it was a 755/4 today.

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

One worked back from Liverpool St to Norwich at 10.30. We saw it at Stratford as we waiting for the Southend train behind it. It looked pretty full and had people in the vestibules.

    BR 'Drivers' Shirt, Red Stripe

That brings back memories. My dad used to wear those shirts, he was one of the managers at Sheffield station Travel Centre.

New bus schemes, have they learnt from FTR?

As someone who grew up in Sheffield at the time of the bendies, we called them bendybuses right from the outset with the original trial batch. It may not have been shown on side of the bus, as the PTE called the originals Cityliners, but The Star (the local paper) and the public soon used the...

Trainee driver roles DB Cargo Perterlee and Dollands Moor

As an Apprenticeship Manager, in England there are no age restrictions for English apprenticeships thanks to the Apprentice Levy introduced in 2017. (Scotland/Ireland/Wales are different kettles of fish though and too intricate to explain here) :)

    IEP train door mechanism

Afraid it doesn’t. Passengers sit there jabbing the buttons after the beep on 395s. It’s then several seconds before the seal releases and the door opens.

    IEP train door mechanism

It is the same thing that the Javelins do, but with the added bonus of 80Xs releasing the seal before the train comes to a standstill, so the door can open as soon as it’s released instead of the few-second wait on the 395.

    Class 710 LO

So it is. I had confused two dates, heaven forbid I have made an error. Obviously not permitted here.

    Class 710 LO

So can anyone say whether a 710 made it out on Euston-Watford Junction today as hoped?

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

I can understand English perfectly well thank you. You wrote “Can’t say I like it, especially on a train with WiFi”. Tell me exactly what that has to do with seeing out of the window please. Nowhere in your post had you mentioned looking out of the window, am I supposed to be a mind reader?

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Yes, so why is this window film that still allows phone reception a bad decision that someone might not like? I don’t understand the logic.

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Come again? The window film is designed to allow mobile signal through. What does it have to do with WiFi?

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Flirt was back out again this evening on the 1735(?) Norwich to Gt Yarmouth. Slightly late off Norwich.

    Late from the depot

Crew late. Overnight maintenance finishing late. There's plenty of possible reasons.

    Class 710 LO

I believe the massive fire in Walthamstow at the Mall Shopping Centre, which is (fairly) near the GOBLIN caused some delays earlier in the day, according to reports in our local (Leyton) Facebook group.

    Class 710 LO

From casual observation while waiting for the train home/shopping (and can see two every time) all were 710s. I wouldn’t have seen all 6 though on my trips. :)

    Bus route numbers

My favourite weird number was Brighton & Hove’s route 5AA, a twice a day variant of the 5A, in the late 1980s when I lived there. When going to check on it, I also saw they later has a 5BX! There’s more on these on the B&H history site: http://history.buses.co.uk/history/route/welcome.htm

Caught with a Zone 1&2 Travel Card... I was coming from Zone 4

Of course it would!!! Why do you think the Underground barriers have had an error code for Dumbbell ever since the year dot? And I appreciate it’s not the Underground, but National Rail barriers are just as capable as those Underground.

Caught with a Zone 1&2 Travel Card... I was coming from Zone 4

The ticket readers would show a “dumbbell” has been happening for a very long time, i.e. an exit at Cannon Street without an entrance somewhere, and vice versa. Patterns can be flagged for investigation. Investigators can and do watch out for/follow particular passengers if they have suspicions...

Bus drivers making passengers get off short of the route finishing

I wouldn’t rely on Google sourced data though. Traveline agrees that Hornsby Depot is the terminus.
