    Railworks Issues (AGAIN !)

At the risk of implying its possible to make an elementrary, you did make sure you cleared the blueprint cache didnt you? Other than that, may be worth checking to ensure the wcml assets folder downloaded ok. That should be in the assets folder under 'Keithmross-WCMLNorth'. If its not there...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

Yes please do. Id be curious to know why. On the one hand it clearly IS a great thing to have a preserved line in Swindon. My concern is that in many respects they are in a bad spot. They suffer quite badly from vandalism, and as Swindon grows in size, my concern is they are going to start...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

Thing ive always loved about the MSWJR, there was a sign for many years at the Midland Cheltenham station which read 'Direct trains for Paris!'. Which whilst undoubtedly true, was probably not entirely selling the line fairly when an express probably wouldnt have been lucky to have averaged...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

LOL. Id not looked at it like that but of course you are quite right.:) The singling of the Northern section of the line is one example of the enormous investment the line required. I think the 2-4-0 and 2-6-0 were not bad machines. But even they were largely worn out. I also seem to recall at...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

There was also a small branch line to a camp (I forget the name) just outside Amesbury, which came in off the Warminster-Salisbury line. So I guess the GWR did grab some of the Military traffic in the end, albeit fleetingly till they got the MSWJR on grouping. Incidentally, does anyone know...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

Really annoying that a potential means of future expansion is impossible, because the canal people are dead set on an expansion into Swindon that in my view is impossible. I mean looked at from another way, if the canal folks gave that up for expansion to Cirencester it would be a win win for...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

Thats really annoying. They keep banging on about reopening it into swindon, and I really cant see any chance of it ever happening. That is about the only real use for that small section of canal to the south of south cerney. They are better off digging a bypass canal and rerouting it around...

    Railway author Adrian Vaughan

Challow and Uffington have been pretty much wipedout of existance (though I think the freight yard for Challow retains access for Network Rail to do work), but the Branch station from Uffington at Faringdon (which Vaughn refers to a few times in his books) still exists, albeit in use as an...

    The M&SWJR: Gone forever?

Looking on Google the other day, its apparent an awful lot of buildings are derelict. It would be interesting to see if Ludgershall gets further use as it develops as a Supergarrision. Ive personally thought the line from Lugershall to the canal would make an excellent preserved line. Most of...

Problems Loading Billionaire's Benifactor's The Big boy.

Thats the reason right there. The original Big Boy was released by IHH a couple of years back. It as withdrawn from steam If I recall correctly, though anyone who bought a copy of it will always have it renewed. The loco was rebuilt by RSC recently, who kept the original 3d model but I gather...

    King Add on

Ill be honest, I never drive with autofireman. I therefore cant actually remember if dampers are auto controlled when the autofireman has it. Best turn him off. If you want to do more than 40mph you are never in my view going to get good results with it on.

    King Add on

I actually wrote this scenario, so I can assure you it is achieveable! I think the main thing most people forget is to open the dampers. I open mine up at the start of the scenario and leave them there. Remember what the coal level is when you start off, and keep it in roughly the same area...

    Railworks Class 150 Manual

Steam sometimes host the manual so you can get an idea of whats in the product (they did with the 56xx) but they dont always include it unfortunately.

    Failed 3 scenarios Portsmouth line

I believe they did an update on the setup of emus and power distribution, and in the process may have broken the 450 and the scenario. It certainly accelerates rather less quickly than it did. It used to be a rocketship in acceleration before (which I gather was also supposed to be unrealistic)...

Creating a timetable in Oxford to London Paddington.

Free roam are for operating trains without a timetable or even ai. To do either ou can either create them in a standard scenario (which you place via the scenario creator, its the little yellow front of train icon) of timetable scenario (which is accessed the same way). Its a little counter...

When did the GWR last use broad-gauge type 'top-hat' rails?

There was track in use on the Cirencester Branch (certainly at the Kemble end) well into the 20th Century. I would have to hit the books to say when they actually removed it. But im certain ive seen photographs with it as late as the 20s, perhaps later. Of course, they never REALLY stopped...

    New addons.

Ive been part of the test team of the 56xx (thats the steam loco, not the diesel Class btw!), and I can confirm its the dogs jangily bits. There is going to be a lot of firsts in this locomotive. There is also someone working on a Class 33, and that looks very impressive as well. I get the...

    Baby Deltic replica

There was some speculation on one model rail forum, the components to build a reasonable Kestrel replica still exist. I gather some engines were built as a powerplant for French power stations in the 1960s, and Kestrel herself had been fitted with Class 47 bogies at one point. Whether anyone...

    Redevelopment of High Wycombe station

There was talk of that being moved to Minehead as some sort of interchange with the mainline (Was that as Bishops Lydiard?). Shame that wont happen now.

    Some possible new stations?

Id put halts back in the Stroud Valley at Brimscombe Bridge, St Marys Halt and Downfield crossing. This would allow locals to use the rail service rather than the buses, and free up some of the traffic from that is becoming some very congested roads. In many cases the stairs exist from the...
