Train companies claiming to have "longer carriages"

Not if you buy 802s which are much cheaper than Class 800s. Also the advert at the top is poorly worded, just means they will try to cut some services to allow for more double voyagers.

    Flybe Collapses

Stobart's part in VC went into administration, Stobart have now bought it out. One of thing's I never understood is why Flybe spreaded itself out across London airports, why not have two hubs? London & Southend both with good transport links. Possible Heathrow as a maximum third, instead of...

    GWR Class 143 withdrawals

Even if they do return to traffic it will be short lived, GWR are already looking at alternatives to aid with replacing them, including more Castle sets if needed.

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

Believe what you want, You either misunderstood what I've typed or purposely changed it.

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

Hence why I said it was a national airline until 1987. Personally I don't get your agenda, but I don't like people playing with the truth. As for British Airways, it is still considered the flag carried of the UK and the consensus across aviation is that the government woul nationalise it. I...

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

Not really much GWR or Heathrow Connect could do, The 360s where needed to cover for the 332s, and GWR could only go as far as Hayes & Harlington as the stock they operated was not allowed to Heathrow Airport. Those at Hanwell, West Ealing could quite easily have doubled back via Paddington...

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

Thank you for clarifying, I respect your opinion but I completely disagree with you. Airlines bring major economic benefits to our country in terms of skill, people, higher salaries, and if necessary they should be bailed out. Don't forget British Airways was a national airline until 1987.

What are your suggestions for a new route between Exeter and Plymouth avoiding Dawlish?

I honestly cannot see the government funding it, It's a very good idea, I personally I would support it if it can be done without affecting communities in the region as per the devastation being caused by HS2. But given the government/network rail have already done a report on reopening the...

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

I never said a whole airline should be nationalised, I was refer back to the users comments that airlines routes are not lifelines and used used everyday by people which I why I highlighted those routes, as what he said is factually incorrect.

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

The was never a plan to nationalise the airline, the plan was to bail it out or assist it with tax breaks until it could get back on it's feet, however due to many reason it was decided not too. Also, Your comment I believe was not about nationalising an airline, you refer to regional routes...

    Go Cornwall Bus

The last service I know in Devon that got dropped was the Torbay routes by LocalLink going into administration.

Did Government-owned East Coast or LNER get new liveries?

No, just a plain colour like GWR have done. Something like https://www.railadvent.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/TS-BPP-LNER-Coronation-800.jpg

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

Exactly and Virgin wanted to start an OAO using Voyagers at one point

Did Government-owned East Coast or LNER get new liveries?

A nice proper lime green or pastel blue livery, none of that Virgin red rubbish

GWR should use HST 'Castle Class' sets on Brighton/Portsmouth - Cardiff services

Yes probably the worst ones, Poterbrook aren't' scrapping all of them. Intercity railfreight have been trying to get their hands on a few of them too.

    Go Cornwall Bus

Fair point, but in Cornwall the majority of bus services have been run by First Group since 1996, and before that Western National since the early 1920s. Transport for Cornwall is meaningless, vanity project for the council to promote being Cornish, even though Red has never been part of...

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

No but Isle of Man to Liverpool or Manchester are, London to Dublin is. Alderney to Guersey is. Loganair Westray to PapaWestray is a vital link, Newquay to London is so vital it's given a subsiday by the government. Therefore your comment doesn't stand any merit.

    Go Cornwall Bus

First already had services to Bude and as you know used to operated in Launceston via Callington depot. Given First bought Summercourt depot from WG i'm sure finding a depot in Bude, Launceston or nearby wouldn't have been an issue.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Agreed a standard name like that makes it so much easier. IET, HST. Far more railway like than Azuma or Paragon.

Do open access operators benefit or hinder our railways? (and how could the situation be improved?)

And how many times have they got that wrong? Quite a few judging by the state of our railways for the last 10 years.
