The "And in other news..." thread

Laurence Fox has had his application to run for London mayor rejected because of administrative errors. https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2024/mar/28/laurence-fox-ruled-out-london-mayor-contest-errors-nomination Who would want that in charge? What a Muppet! :)

Fife Council bus stop in Dundee? Anybody know why?

If it's not actually a bus stop, my guess is that it has probably been placed there as a smoking shelter and that the company responsible for supplying it has just used any old thing that's lying around! One of life's oddities, I suppose! :)

Fife Council bus stop in Dundee? Anybody know why?

Is it an actual bus stop, or is it just a shelter that has been placed there?

    Bee Network service changes

We're getting away from the thread topic, which is Bee Network Services Changes. If you wish to discuss any other matter, please use an appropriate existing thread or start a new one. Thanks :)

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

We're getting a bit off-topic with these trips down memory lane. If anyone wishes to discuss the historical aspects of services in this area, you're welcome to start a new thread on the subject. Let's keep this thread for discussing current operations, please. Please also ensure that any...

    TfGM Tranche 3 speculation

I think it's best if we all just wait for the announcement to be made. Constantly posting "is there any news yet?" isn't going to make it happen any quicker and it just clogs the thread up with pointless posts. When there is any movement, you can rest assured that it will be posted here -...

    First Greater Glasgow

That page makes no reference to wheelchair dimensions whatsoever. Thanks - a link to those regulations would be helpful, along with a quote from the relevant section.

£2 fare - but what next?

Once again, this thread is for discussing what happens if and when the £2 fare cap scheme ends. It is not for discussing concessionary schemes and nor is it a general ticketing discussion. Please stay on topic. Thank you

Trivia: Rare and unusual bus and coach types

We're only counting body/chassis combinations that were rare as built, so re-bodied examples don't count, I'm afraid.

£2 fare - but what next?

This thread is for discussing the £2 fare cap and what will happen after the funding ends. London has its own arrangements that do not apply here. Please stay on topic.

Trivia: Rare and unusual bus and coach types

I thought you might be onto something there until I actually looked it up and saw how many were actually built! 6 mk1 on Neoplan chassis: https://www.buslistsontheweb.co.uk/index.htm?https://www.buslistsontheweb.co.uk/list.asp?listname=1516&Type=BodyType 70 mk2 on Neoplan, DAF and Scania...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

They are Northern Ireland issued numbers and they are quite commonly used as "cherished" plates over here. As @Lx008 says, it's often to disguise the age of the vehicle.

    Night buses outside of London

There have been a few threads on the subject over the years. While some of the information is likely to be out of date, the most recent was from 2022. Link here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/trivia-places-with-night-buses-every-night.232663/ For the rest, see this list...

    Former British car marque revivals.

Funnily enough, the Fully Charged Show released a feature on this van yesterday. It's not exactly to my taste, but interesting nonetheless. YouTube link below:

Let's be careful when making allegations about vehicles being taken off the road. Please include your source and, If you're relying on second-hand information, you must make it clear in your post that it is simply rumour. I'd also urge caution when using information from the DVLA website...

    TfGM Tranche 3 speculation

ComfortDelgro did spring to mind when it was mentioned about potential newcomers to the bidding process. I suspect that comment was ever so slightly tongue-in-cheek. However, stranger things have happened!

Network Rail removes Islamic message on King's Cross display boards after fierce criticism

Any practicing Muslims I've come across have been moderate and just want to live their ordinary lives in the same way the rest of us do; I've met far more intolerant Christians. Anyway, I'm not certain that you can claim Christianity to be moderate - clearly you've never heard of the Westboro...
