GWR 1st catering now weekdays (& before 7:30pm) only, and not for Paddington Oxford customers

They are rare as hen’s teeth it must be said and very hit and miss that the First class host have them. Had a choice from three fillings on a train from Paddington to the South West a few weeks back so they are still around. They are the same brand of sandwiches offered to First class...

    Pembroke Dock line timetable decimation

There’s one gap Paddington to Swansea and two gaps between Swansea to Paddington in the hourly service where the Pembroke Coast Express and afternoon return to London journeys would be so I suspect timings or whether these services actually run to from Pembrokeshire still TBC.

    GWR Dec 19 timetable

Not only that the 1403 and 1603 PAD-PNZ have gone on an already badly affected timetable along with some of the Bristols. Great start to the new timetable. Thoughts with those trying to travel on the GW lines today.

List of published December 2019 timetable pdf files

SWR’s Winter timetables now available to view: https://www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey/timetables At risk of incurring jimm’s roth, I’ll say it anyway. For such a major timetable change coming up, I find it staggering that GWR have yet to publish timetables and will once again be...

Trivia: Stations only served by intercity trains (no local services)

Almost by not quite - Almouth. Served twice daily each way Northern Newcastle-Chathill at the start and end of the day with no locals in between.

Will there be a Virgin Trains seat sale?

Agree, seat sales have been few and far between this year compared to previous years. TOCs are obviously filling trains so don’t feel the need to have a sale. Also, with engineering works both on the ECML and WCML this month may have had a bearing on things.

Extra capacity where there have been issues on IET services between Plymouth and Penzance, that’s a good thing isn’t it?

GWR Turbo cascade progress to Bristol region services

I think we’d all like to see that. The question is who is going to pay for them? Do I think the Turbos are ideal replacements for the 158s on the Cardiff-Portsmouth line? Not really, but they do bring with them the extra capacity desperately needed on this line. I think if you were to ask most...
