    Great to see those, thanks.

If I find myself awake in the early hours I might have a trip up to BSV.

    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

If that is the case we need to be making a public fuss about this to politicians etc and get them to kick up a stink about it. I imagine Sir Lindsay Hoyle for one is very keen to see this finally opened as soon as possible.

No pictures I am afraid as I was driving but spotted two teams of Orangemen just north of Horwich Parkway at 15.30 yesterday. One group doing something with a mast /base on the Up line and the second on a scissor platform tinkering with wires a bit closer to the M61 bridge.

    New station: Maghull North

Station tannoy announcements were a problem when Buckshaw Parkway opened too. Its as if when they install them they just turn them up to 10 and don't test them and turn them down to a reasonable level.

    Buckshaw Parkway - now unstaffed?

On the local facebook pages there are various reasons reported, one of them being (allegedly from a Twitter interaction with Northern) that the building was flooded and damage has been caused to the TVM and the ticket office. That would account for Northern's "essential repairs".

Train skipping a station for a week

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but please can someone explain why Northern have 1C59 2200 Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness not stopping at Preston this week? RTT has it stopping as normal but Northern have it missing.

Piling works overnight at Buckshaw. Presumably for the platforms as either ends have been done. Much local moaning on social media as no warnings were given.

OK thanks for the explanation JL.

You should have read the message boards/facebook for Buckshaw when the piling equipment was here at Christmas. Trying to explain to people that Christmas the only time this could have be done because of the tie in to the WCML was like banging heads against walls. Some said it should be done...

    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

Ok thanks. I haven't read that thread as I only really bother with threads about the area I live/travel in. As Chorley's platforms have been rebuilt within the last year, I was surprised they never did all the work then and added masts as part of that work. The usual lack of joined up...

Is there any reason the stations are being left til later on this? Also Lancashire Evening Post and BBC Radio Lancashire making a big fuss about folks in Preston being kept awake by the piling. NR haven't been very proactive in their PR about the works again, just for a change.

    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

Probably because as you say Len, we are bigger  It could also have something to do with the fact that there is an fair bit of work to be done on the lines right next to Buckshaw, whereas once past Euxton Junction....... The amount of complaints NR got from Buckshaw residents around...

Couple who live near railway are upset by noisy Class 37's.

Obviously an incorrect assumption by the OP.

Trouble up North - Car Parking.

Buckshaw regularly fills up before 8am (although comment on the local facebook page reckons that is partly due to call centre workers nearby using it as their car park isn't big enough) and idiots park on both sides of the access road, leading to the bus company pulling out of serving the...

Couple who live near railway are upset by noisy Class 37's.

The property where the couple live and those around them are not privately owned, but are social housing, therefore they would have had little choice in choosing to move there in the first place regardless of the type of stock used in the area at that time. In this case they probably do have...

    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

Good news for 2017 progress. The local Facebook group had a photo attached (not sure how to add here) of a letter to residents about forthcoming work in the New Year. I think the letter covers Salford all the way to Euxton Junction (its partially obscured) so not all the work will be happening...

Hopefully they got done what they needed to. The Mrs was moaning this morning about it keeping her awake for hours  while I was snoring away  [edit] Just found out they are piling every night this week. Although maybe not tonight with the thunder and lightning??
