Italy rail strike 17th February 2023

Unfortunately I do not have information on the status of the strike, however I found the list of services guaranteed to run using this link (use google translate instead of the EN option on the site) - https://www.trenitalia.com/it/informazioni/treni_garantiti_incasodisciopero.html

    Caledonian Sleeper

Could it be a possibility of CS offering shared berths with other travellers? Post-COVID and all that now, they might begin giving people that option to lower prices somewhat?

A career as a train driver

Great thread first of all, it has been very helpful in finding out what to expect in the recruitment stages. I haven’t been able to find out much about the AART (perception) test. I have a copy of the how2become AART test and have found it surprisingly difficult! For those who have utilised the...

    ‘Assessment’ York Train Driver

Unfortunately the ‘Assessment’ status doesn’t mean you will be attending an assessment day, but rather an online numerical and verbal reasoning test with SHL. By now, you should have received a link for this, but if you haven’t by now it’s most likely you will need to reapply should it be...

    Huddersfield to Manchester

While browsing for tickets to Manchester, I wondered why they didn’t do TPE advance tickets from Huddersfield. Not the same case from Leeds, however. £6.40 advance compared to £11.75 anytime from Huddersfield with a F&F railcard (1 adult, 1 child travelling 18/08 I’m not all that familiar with...

Trivia: Lines That Never Had Passenger Services

    Class 185 refurbishment for TPE.

There appears to be a lilac tint to the seat frame, but it's hardly noticeable

    Skegness - Huddersfield advance tickets

That'll be the VTEC website, though those tickets aren't actually available now which is a tad confusing.

    Skegness - Huddersfield advance tickets

That wasn't the case last year, or the year before - £19.45 advance tickets each journey

    Skegness - Huddersfield advance tickets

We always book our tickets as far in advance as possible for the best prices. I saw that VTEC was doing 24 week advance tickets, so we went ahead and booked the tickets from HUD to SKG, at the usual price of £19.45. Upon booking the return journey, there were only 3 journeys available. So, we...

Northern timetable plan for May 2018

If this change goes ahead, doesn't this mean that there will be no passenger rail connection between Wakefield Kirkgate and Westgate, or am I missing something? If so, this will cause inconveniences.

    Independent Companies

I'd say that TLC is a rather good operator (in the Huddersfield area at least). From my experiences they have been reliable, clean, have decent drivers and cheap fares.

Which bus do you dislike most, and why?

For me it has to be the Streelite, it has a terrible ride quality. What's yours?
