    Southport - Edinburgh railtour

Lovely steam service just booked for 19th April, boarding at Wigan Wallgate. Going to Edinburgh via S&C so I'm guessing the route will be turn off at Carnforth and up to Hellifield via the Bentham line. Question is, will it be the diesel pulling from Southport or the Steam? How will they work it?

    Lancashire Day Ranger routing question

Wigan to MAN stations and vice versa, whatever route or service, no problem with the Lanc Ranger since there are no stations in between that services do not stop at that lie outside its validity. But slightly off-topic, it is getting to be a rather expensive ticket for what it is. I certainly...

    Driver route knowledge requirement

Haaaa, I remember Rob telling me about that. It's a class 50 isn't it?? Once the S&C is back open, It would make sense to have that back as a diversion but I don't surpose there are enough voyager sets to justify it.

    Driver route knowledge requirement

How on earth do you still sign Hellifield and Blackburn? Is it just a DVD refresh or do you actually ride up it on one of Northern's services every 6 months with the Blackpool men? Cheers, Neil

    Driver route knowledge requirement

Yeah, East Coast is pretty much straight forward with what I know of it. Once I rack up the miles, I wouldn't mind stepping up to WCML stuff with virgin, but I haven't the experience as of yet. Train Delay Attributor

You should always research the history of the company in which you are applying for employment. And that goes for any industry and job

    Train Delay Attributor

Will be similar to a signaller interview if with Network Rail (experience of following procedures, working to deadlines, managing your own workload etc etc), so direct your research towards that. Plus they will also very likely ask question(s) about your understanding of the geographical area of...

Driver's views/anecdotes of BR diesels in the 90s?

Power is nothing without torque and acceleration. These things take an eternity to get up to full line speed. One mans meat is another mans poison I suppose.
