Impossible now that we get the holiday pay supplement. Even if a box was closed every night and every Sunday.

Sorry I didn't realise how complicated I made that sound. I met a fellow signaller whilst we were traveling on the bakerloo line one morning (me to work and him going home). He said he worked at New Cross Gate, and I asked him was it the same when TfL owned the line and it was the ELL on the...

Am I right in thinking the signal box is still owned by TfL, but now run by NWR? Met a fellow signaller who worked there on the the Bakerloo line a couple years ago now and I think that's what he told me.

Reliefs don't get rostered Sundays remember and the "life" of a relief isn't for everyone. Expect to do more nights than days, getting a call a day before a rostered spare to cover a sick day, residents seeing you are spare when the roster is published on a Friday or Saturday and a quick call to...

You mean relief allowance? It's given to relief signallers only and is calculated on the distance between your locations that you'll work.

I'm unsure what exactly you mean by shift allowance, it's not a phase I've heard in regards to signallers pay/terms.

Are you talking about relief premiums? Depends on the distances between the boxes covered. Or night shift premium? Will be about £20 a shift grade 3/4. Remember the basic advertised salary doesn't include rostered Sundays for residents, if it's a 4 line roster you are guaranteed 12 a year...

That's true, but not much after basic, London weighting and my 13 Sundays a year is going to be taxed at basic rate anyway unfortunately.

Hi mate. I completely understand your worries but this is what I say to everyone. If you have passed the assesments and interview you certainly have the capacity to pass IST. Remember LOM's usually have a good knack of hiring the right people! Yes IST is challenging, I'm not going to sugarcoat...

The rosters will vary depending on who was working the box when they were changed over. For example we changed ours in early 2021 to become 60hr compliant, as well as a change in our opening hours. The signallers there all had our input and any new signallers will have to go with it. If there is...

We do 5 12hr nights in a row. I'd hate it if it was days, but nights is ok.

Residents: Fixed pattern of days/nights (you can work out exactly what shift you are doing months or even years in advance). Rostered Sundays (that you can ask to be booked off from without using annual leave allowance). Work 1 location. You may have general purpose relief shifts in your...

I'm surprised a Friday Night finishing on a Saturday RD is the favoured choice.

We changed ours in 2021. The opening hours of the box changed and with that we were told all new rosters had to be 60hr compliant. Here is mine, it's single manned, 4 residents, open 24/7 apart from Saturday day shift is 8hrs. 4 week cycle. OFF D D D RD RD D D N N RD RD RD RD OFF RD RD N N N N...

When I did mine I asked the assessor and she said I'd passed them (minus the D&A test but I knew I'd passed that). Was back in 2016 though with OH Assist not Optima Health

I assume there wasn't a t/c failure, multiple requests for line blocks, PICOP ringing to discuss T3 details, trespassers on the line, a failed train going on then.
