DB Cargo Driver Vacancies - many locations

I a man an ex freight driver, so have gone the other way. If anybody asks me whether I would recommend leaving a TOC for a freight company I would say definitely DON'T DO IT. The state of freight is very volatile at this moment in time whether it goes full circle and gets better I don't know...

    Driver route knowledge requirement

That's the whole point of route knowledge, you know not to take a wrong route if it's given by the signaler. If you do make that mistake then it's a whole world of trouble

Trainee Train Driver - Virgin Trains East Coast

I am a qualified driver. I have not applied for this job, but I have been following this thread and other trainee driver threads for quite a while now. Some of the comments I have read on here have made me chuckle and some have made me cringe. The current thread trend from some people who are...

    Question about the medical

This exactly mirrors my own experience, I had a medical and got a nasty shock ref my own BP and was referred back to my GP for further investigation. After more consultations, testing and medication a letter was provided by my Doctor to the occupational health team which satisfied them.

Doesn't your joining instruction letter act as your rail ticket, I know for sure this is the case with other TOCs. Got to be worth a quick phone call to ask if this is the case.

    telephone interview, Northern, York

I did one a few years ago and was things like "what did I know about the company?", "why did I want to be a driver?", "tell me about a time when I delivered a good customer experience?" "What do you think would make a good driver?" I really wasn't prepared for the questions as the interview was...

Trainee Train Driver - Virgin Trains East Coast

You have got the wrong end of the stick Sam Slade, I am talking about the help once in the job. Information about getting the job is just that information, the person still has to perform during interview, assessment and pass a medical. There are many things that can trip you up in this process...

Trainee Train Driver - Virgin Trains East Coast

Agreed, there is defo no such thing as too much help. That's what I love about being a driver, there is always someone willing to offer help and advice.

Trainee Train Driver - Virgin Trains East Coast

I agree and disagree with that statement. Whilst I still think they will take on trainees it will surely make business sense to take on some suitable already qualified displaced DBC drivers. Will that reduce the number of trainees.......?

    Upcoming driver assessment

I can't see that being a problem because when you actually have the MMI you are asked to alloborate on what you have written anyway. If the bullet points cover what has been asked in the question how it's written down shouldn't be an issue. My advice for the MMI, know what your answers to the...
