    It is apprently the way that door sensors have been designed and any problems with the step mechinisims stop the door from working as a safety precaution.

    This timetable change (back to a 30 minute Sunday service from 03/09/23) has been in place since the change in May, but I agree that as a major event and good weather combined this could have been arranged in a better way, and hopefully with a six car operation.

    The batteries can be fitted to any of the 53 units, so in effect any of the units can carry batteries. An exercise to remove batteries from a 777 and refit them has already been conducted at Kirkdale depot. Headbolt Lane is scheduled to open in 2023, so I would imagine things hopefully will...

    The units on Merseyrail can rack the mileage quite quickly, hence the 508's which are being used very sparingly as they are near mileage........

    Each unit is required to cover a minimum of 1,500 miles on test fault free before being signed over to Merseyrail, so covering the whole network would bring this mileage down.

    777007 has already been delivered to Stadler (Kirkdale) and the units are being produced on two different production lines in two different countries (evens from one factory and odds from the other) as units are completed they are being sent in any order......

    The bogies on the new rolling stock are shorter thus reducing wear (hopefully!) on tight bends including the Wirral loop, there is a system on the loop where devices are fitted to inject a lubricant to try and stop the excessive wear on the track.
