    Picc Line Closures

Wasn't there a plan to provide additional platforms and/or sidings at the east end of the line to facilitate faster turnaround of trains and improved service?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

I've heard rumours the 458/4's will be used on Waterloo-Alton/Basingstoke services, instead of the Portsmouth route, because of less or quicker driver training and testing the 100mph re-gearing.

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

    3) No plans to put battery packs on GWR's 387's and 800's. So I would assume new trains with third-rail, battery and/or diesel. However battery EMU's would affect performance, reliability and speed issues because of the additional weight on the train.

West Midlands Class 323 - the final countdown

Didn't know the 730/0's are to be used on the Rugeley route. Assuming to remove the 350/2's from service asap.

Class 379 updates (all are OFF LEASE)

If they were ever fitted with third-rail shoes South Eastern could take them and start binning their 465/9s.

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

Yes. TfW want rid of the 769's asap because it then frees up depot space at Canton for other new trains or units to arrive. 231's have bigger fuel tanks, more seats and are more powerful than the 756's. Unsure whether TfW will use the 231's as a temporary measure, or not.

Is the Class 334 due for refurbishment?

All I know is there are plans for their replacement alongside the Class 156, 318 & 320 as part of Scotrail's Decarbonisation and Standardised Fleet Strategy.

Crossrail - Through Running confirmed for November

Auto-reversal west of Paddington would be eliminated from 2026, when Old Oak Common Station (HS2) is built, so all Shenfield and/or a few Abbey Wood trains would terminate and reverse there.

    Southern 313 withdrawal, planned date?

The 313's go in the December 2022 Timetable Change. Plenty of time to travel on them.

    Class 317 withdrawals.

And for Southern to bin their 313's. :D
  13. M

    Class 317 withdrawals.

Southern want to remove their 313s by late 2022 or early 2023. A 5-car 720 can replace an 8-car EMU, depending on passenger levels.

Future uses for class 220s/221s and 222s?

Southern work Uckfield and Marshlink services. Dwell times could be an issue for Uckfield services. Unsure for the Marshlink route, though. They could replace some SWR's 158's since they have more or similar seating capacity.

Transfer of LNER HST 125s to East Midlands Railway (EMR)

And reduces the turnaround times at St Pancras and Nottingham, significantly for the diesel stock.

    Class 317 withdrawals.

Especially for the proposed platform extensions on the Hertford East branch to allow 2 x 5-car 720 operation.

Rank a TOC's rolling stock from best to worst

If a 319 turns up. Reliability has been poor, since they arrived to Northern in 2015. Won't beat a 3-car 323 in terms of acceleration and capacity, though.

Rank a TOC's rolling stock from best to worst

Very outdated interior imo. Poor acceleration, unreliable and unsuitable with other TOC's. On the whole they were specificially built and suited for the Thameslink route only.
