    June 2024 Timetable Change

    1745 Oxford calls there off-pattern

    June 2024 Timetable Change

IIRC there is a class 68 hauled service that operates Tu-Thur from Princes Risborough towards London in the morning but Mon & Fri that runs as a unit, presumably by adjusting other stock lengths. So a form of demand related adjustment. The clock face timetable didn't last long! Beaconsfield...

    Aylesbury track issue

Looked like coaches today Aylesbury-Amersham (plenty waiting at Aylesbury I assume that is why) with various calling patterns on the diverted services to replace the cancelled shuttles in the southbound direction

    Aylesbury track issue

Anyone know what has happened in the Aylesbury area? Met line services can't run toward London until later this week Tomorrow the plan seems to be to cancel the Aylesbury-Princes Risborough shuttles and use the single line to accommodate trains towards London non stop from Aylesbury which then...

Major landslide between Haddenham and Bicester update thread

Looks like there are a couple of extra trains for the peak- 1745 to High Wycombe and 1815 to Princes Risborough. Quite strange that the morning arrivals were nearly all 4 car, I imagine they were cosy even on a Friday & that won't work mid next week!

Major landslide between Haddenham and Bicester update thread

Oxford - Bicester Village shuttles and RRBS Bicester Village - Bicester North - Aylesbury With ticket acceptance on GWR / XC and Avanti shouldn't be too bad long distance especially if they run the 1tph in a long formation Stations like High Wycombe will struggle without some extra capacity...

Extremely limited service on some Thameslink routes NYE

I know train crewing is complicated but is it really not possible to check how many drivers you may have before you plan an entire overnight NYE train service which I'm sure many 100s of people have made plans around?

Overcrowding on Chiltern Line: How can this be resolved?

Well of course it'd be better to have enough stock to do it all but that isn't happening any time soon. I'm sure someone could do a proper analysis between tfl and Chiltern and figure out a way to reduce Chiltern services along the Met one way or another to free up some capacity for the...

Overcrowding on Chiltern Line: How can this be resolved?

Having been back on Chiltern for a couple of years now I actually think until they can get more stock they need to stop serving stations Chalfort & Latimer to Marylebone inclusive as well as some other inner London calls e.g. Northolt Park. This would allow a reduction in via Amersham services...

Why does Chiltern not serve Wembley Park

They don't have enough resources either, on Wembley event days they often don't run any trains via Amersham and replace them with buses, presumably to resource the increased service at Wembley Stadium. Far better to leave it to the Metropolitan line, those who need to can change en route

Anytime Group 3 - Stansted Express. Possible Refund Needed

Show all the tickets say one person is in the toilet ? The railway doesn't want you travelling separately, can't see an issue if you've all the tickets in your possession, you haven't gained anything financially

    "Service reported as being busy"

Chiltern Railways Birmingham to London services almost consistently show this on a Saturday from Leamington Spa or Banbury on journeycheck. Not sure if it shows on the screens as I've no wish to cram on a 4 car 168 for an hrs ride and either go to Bicester Village or Aylesbury instead presumably...

    Arriva Buses (including Greenline)

Little bit confusing/misleading for potential bus users using the "X" when actually neither the X4 or the X6 are the express route between Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, that actually being the 100 which goes direct not via Buckingham or Leighton Buzzard and the X9 is slower than the 130 with the...

    Chiltern Oxford stock

It's rather a pain for Bicester residents who face a choice of a likely full service that has come from Birmingham at Bicester North or a slow ride in from Bicester Village. Those like myself who bought on the basis of the 2019 timetable are not happy! Ideally they'd go to the peak (Inc...

What functions cannot be performed by Ticket Vending Machines, and why?

It is almost certainly only on exit (or not at all ) a couple of times I've only remembered during the day and haven't had a fine Design flaw in RingGo though , should allow you to select 2 days and charge you £3

Can I collect the tickets I bought online from a Ticket Office or does it have to be a machine?

and if you've got multiple tickets (e.g. split tickets) make sure it is going to print them all. I got caught out by this recently with a Chiltern Railways machine, you have to tick the rest of the tickets which I didn't realise. Which seems silly to me, it's far more likely someone will want...

Passengers boarding train prior to display on screens

If you get really unlucky with Chiltern late at night they just might not display the train at all! Perhaps it's just my services but I find this new timetable not so bad for needing to use the boarding area or particularly late boarding. There are certainly some services where boarding could...

    December 2023 Timetable Change

Looks a bit weird, puts their first train into Birmingham past 9am which on a Saturday is rather late. Also means they've got to have more units / drivers over night up north to operate the southbound services which haven't been reduced. That said I can't imagine the pre-7.30am demand for...

    Late evening services from Euston.

Gap of 90 mins last night and the last train was cancelled. I had considered using them instead of Chiltern but I'm glad I didn't! Getting home at night is really becoming unpleasant to this part of the world and will be making people think twice about train travel next time

    Arriva Buses (including Greenline)

Yes Red Rose will be pleased. Whenever I've seen a 9 or a 10 they've been quite sparsely populated. I wonder if they'll extend back to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
