I had 50007 to Waterloo from Exeter & then back just after lunch with D400 in 1992
Was window hanging enjoying the ride & some chub nicked my seat & moved my bags.
As he was twice the size of me I decided not to make too much of it, just staring at him when I felt like.
He bailed at Basingstoke...
I live in Ashby, a stones throw from the old station & have done since 1977.
The roads are full now & when 600 new homes are finished it’ll surely be worse.
When I started driving back in 1986 the 9 miles to Burton took 20 mins
Today it’s a good run to do it in under 30-35
Same applies to...
Always used it in my petrol cars.
The cavaliers always responded nicely to a dose.
Tried the diesel one in my present car & the mpg went up by around 4 mpg, hardly worth singing about but over 10,000 miles it’ll add up
Did very well with its end of season one day diesel running day too with over 1,000 persons turning up to travel.
More events like this are planned apparently
When I used to use the Trent valley from Tamworth the class 350’s had a tendency to hunt if that’s the word, where you can feel the wheels
moving side to side on the rails.
Used to be particularly bad north of Stafford
Do they still do this?
I drive to London as it’s generally cheaper.
The only time I use the train nowadays is travelling into London to Marylebone or when on holiday in the West Country or if I’m popping into Birmingham when I drive to Sutton Coldfield which to be honest isn’t a lot as I can’t stand Birmingham

We’ve stayed on Marine Parade for a fair few years now just down from the tunnel on holiday
We noticed that the ‘bang’ from the sea hitting the wall has got louder
