I had my medical in August, started on 30th October, it took 3 weeks for the urine test to come through. You will find that your start date will be based around when there is a place available for signal school as you usually start a week before you start school.

i have done the assessment day and passed, I don't know what it's called but it's in the form of shapes and gets harder as you go along if that's the one you mean.
