    Stopper allowed out first

I don’t think that Holyhead train ever runs to time.

    Stopper allowed out first

Thank one of the West Midlands MP’s for that. The agreement is they get priority.

Been offered a trainee drivers job with SE. Any tips? Money questions too!

It’s not like learning to drive a car. There’s a minimum number of hours you must achieve before you are able to pass out. It varies slightly between TOC’s but you’re looking at around 220/230 hours.

    Voyagers /Meredians

I see where you’re coming from. First time I travelled on a pendo I was facing backwards, looking out the window did make me feel a bit dizzy.

    Pacers on Long Distance Routes

I believe 96 was the all time record, in the days before black boxes.

Euston Disruption From Signalling Faults (2/3 April)

We did have the magic tree at Harrow yesterday.

Motorway Driving - too many idiots

They should improve the B test and I agree about the hire and reward. There should also be recertification every so many years. It’s crazy when you think you can pass the driving test at 17 then the next check will be when you turn 70.

When’s national pay rise day? :D

    Unusual sign at Littlehampton

Euston still has its giant red star sign, sorry about the low quality. Was the best angle I could find on street view. (Image shows red star parcels sign on Euston building from Google street view)

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

They’ll assess your mobility on the day, I wouldn’t worry. We all get injured from time to time.

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

No, they’ll ask you if you have any conditions current or previous. All assessments are done on the day.

    Voyagers /Meredians

There’s only a couple of places where the profile is different. Berkhamsted, linslade tunnel, weedon, Rugby. There’s a differential for trains towards Liverpool at Weaver, but voyagers don’t go up there anymore.

Avanti Qualified Drivers - Euston, Wolves and Liverpool (06/03/2024)

You’ll go in on £51k then at Euston it goes up to £62k

Once a train driver can you relocate?

Once you’re qualified the only time your psychometrics would be looked at again is if you were involved in a serious incident and the ORR were looking at your record. If you want to change TOC the only barrier is the other candidates. You need to be the best on the day to guarantee the job...

There's jumping the barriers then this.

    Cheers, I didn’t think so.

There's jumping the barriers then this.

If the crossing is OD would there be CCTV?

How many different types of traction have you signed?

There was a post the other day about how long does it take to sign more than one traction, and it got me thinking about how many types of traction I’ve signed. Since 2013 I have signed 15 types of traction. It would be interesting to see what others have done and in how long a time frame. I’ll...
  19. E

At what point in your training/driving did you add a second traction type?

It depends on Toc’s and even depots. Some will sign multiple traction straight away, others may only sign 1 for years.

    Cross Country Manchester route knowledge

There’s not enough work for them to be able to share it amongst the other depots. The company would never pay for the extra routes days that would be required to maintain the route knowledge.
