    Right. Thanks.

    Southern Flexi anomaly

Re “publicising”, I did consider constructing a scenario with station a, b and c, but assumed it wouldn’t be allowed : “When asking for advice, please ensure you post the following: The origin and destination stations of your whole journey (and any via points if applicable)”

    Southern Flexi anomaly

Thanks Alex, I guessed my cunning plan was too good to be true.

    Southern Flexi anomaly

Rye to London Terminals Flexi (inc. Hispeed) - £563.10 Hastings to London Terminals (inc. Hispeed) - £414.50 Is there any reason why you couldn't buy the Hastings Flexi and tap in and out at Rye every day on the way to STP ? I can't see anything in the T&C which require a Flexi to start at one...

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

I’ll bring a sledgehammer. So...Commuter traffic on the Uckfield Line reduces substantially after COVID -19 as loads realise they can WFH. The 2+2 Oxted shuttles become permanent. 4 Coach hourly, all stations Hastings bay platform to Ashford service becomes the new reality. I stop moaning, and...

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

Near empty - obviously - 4 coach trains today. Genius.

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

4 coach trains were promised for summer weekends last year, but rarely materialised. Meanwhile, long Uckfield trains ran near empty to LBG. Promised again this summer I understand. The Marshlink weekend overcrowding is pretty bad, even by Southern standards. The 3 coach Scotrail 171’s would...

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

The whole thread is full of speculative ideas ! Just interested in peoples updated opinions since the last time I asked. thanks Mike

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

So...your new best guesses as to what will actually happen on the Marshlink ?
  10. Argyle_mikey

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

...which is a particular problem for the Uckfield line should it fail near the country end - unless they install some sort of feed down there. At least with Marshlink it’s a relatively short run with third rail at either end, so you’d hope it could limp home. Talking of failures, since I...

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

Well the chances of any official information being handed out seems pretty remote, doesnt it ? This place seems like our best hope. Further questions : 1. Anyone know where the conversion of the test unit will take place ? 2. Guesses as to when it might arrive either down here or on the...

So what covers the interim ? I thought the Turbostars were off next year ?

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

So - best current guesses on what we can expect to replace our much-loved (mostly) 171’s ?
  15. Argyle_mikey

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

Would settle for that rather than the current local rumour - 313’s with batteries
  16. Argyle_mikey

    Battery Powered Electrostars for Southern

Punters won’t switch from Uckfield to Brighton or Hastings Lines just because of seat comfort ! Annual seasons on the Uckfield Line are *about* 30% cheaper than those other lines. Commuters would sit on an ironing board if it saved them a couple of grand. Winchelsea would easily take a three...

December 2018 timetable changes (some now confirmed scrapped) - contagion spreads

0646 from Rye to Ashford International re-timed to 0638, with an additional stop at Winchelsea at 0633. Now arrives AFK 0700 allowing connection to 0703 and 0706 London-bound trains. Something actual to come out of Amber Rudd's Rail Summit. Good work by MLAG and THWART to achieve this. Mike

    Southern Timetable Change 2018

First Class is still declassified on the The Marshlink - or at least if it isn’t, there’s absolutely no keenness on the part of GTR’s employees to enforce it on the ground. And for the sake of balance, that’s the third day running I’ve got a seat on the 6 coach 0716 Javelin from AFK to STP.

    Southern Timetable Change 2018

I’ve been told that declassification will remain, but will report back tomorrow. Assuming I survive the new “improved” 6 coach squash at AFK that is. Bad feeling locally remains from commuters, not sure how many will be on the retimed Rye Shuttle tomorrow. Maybe that was the plan all along...

    Southern Timetable Change 2018

Well if the Marshlink service is any more than 2 cars, I’ll eat a British Rail sandwich.
