    East Coast Timetable Dec 24

I was primarily thinking of the 5-car sets that run all the way from King's Cross to Waverley. Plus those services to/from Leeds that are only 5.

    East Coast Timetable Dec 24

To provide more capacity on the ECML then paths shouldn't be used by 5 coach trains. Sort that out first.

I was just giving a daft answer! Anyhow... Paying by BACS is a regular thing, but what does "BACS" stand for?

    Settle & Carlisle Line

S&C, Cumbrian Coast and Bentham Line makes a nice circular. Especially when you have a Northern Delay Repay free ticket! (And when the Cumbrian Coast line is open.)

Where are "overnights" still possible on the UK railway (NOT Night Riviera or Caledonia Sleeper).

I would start on the Sunday and end on the Saturday, so that the night with no overnights can be skipped.

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

Absolutely! I much prefer to travel on a 331. But then I wasn't squeezed into a vestibule. My final post on this - the 17.42 was still a 333 (fresh off the depot) and that always has dozens of empty seats.

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

And we were assured that peak hours Leeds - Skipton services would not be affected. But they are.

Where are "overnights" still possible on the UK railway (NOT Night Riviera or Caledonia Sleeper).

I would presume that it is essentially a fill in move between Overnights? Start the day at Inverness and end it at Aberdeen for different 73s.

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

Four corners. Quadrilateral. Meanwhile, the 17.19 Leeds - Skipton Airedale service dropped a 331 today. I was happy, as I grabbed the single seat next to the front cab, but it looked cosy for standees in the vestibule. Presumably even more wedged down the back. This is a service that needs...

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

I'll stick with saying Airedale and Wharfedale. Anyway, the platform extensions at Bingley are still barriered off, but work is essentially complete. I am looking forward to the 6 car 331 formations in place of 333s.

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

That still sounds like a quadrilateral to me! :D

Northern Class 331 East:West unit swap

Is it just me who finds reference to the "triangle" confusing? There are four corners, not three: Leeds, Bradford, Ilkley and Skipton. So the "quadrilateral". The only triangle I can see is Shipley Station.

Things getting a bit desperate there. :D What next? Scratching an e-bike for haulage? :D

    Back in the day...

I once had a day return Newcastle to Swansea (attending interview at the Uni). Set off at 21:00 the day before, arrived back around 06:00 the day after. In between times, my first four Cromptons for haulage. Full details somewhere up thread!

    Ferrybridge Power Station

It would be permanently sequestered in a saline aquifer under the North Sea seabed as part of the East Coast Cluster CCS scheme. 1710608442 No, as above, it would be permanently stored. The quantities involved would be way to high for industrial use.

    Ferrybridge Power Station

Enfinium have announced plans for CO2 capture at the two EfW plants. Their proposal includes transporting liquid CO2 by rail to Teesside. So if this come to fruition, then the siding will see some use.
