Trainee Infrastructure Monitoring Train Driver - Colas Rail

Can I ask how much the IM drivers get paid? I fancy this role in the future to be honest. Do they still do mostly Monday-Friday?

Welsh / Scottish railway and Sunday working.

They would also need a big recruitment drive (which would please Aslef) as increasing to 156 rest days will present roster challenges.

Fair point Playing devil’s advocate though is opening a depot at Holyhead and Crewe not taking work off existing depots?

CrossCountry Qualified Train Drivers Various Locations - 25/12/2023

I can’t answer your specifics re Derby but normally at XC there is WRD although some depots are doing more than others due to the dispute! Sundays are outside the working week currently! I am not sure if Derby has week of rest days every 5 weeks or the “traditional” 4 day week roster

    Freightliner info please.

It is final salary but contributions are higher and retirement age set higher as well (Brass is your friend) 1680210137 Unless it has changed since end of last year then not the case if you are already in another section of RPS final salary but yes new entrants usually have to wait 3 years.

    Freightliner info please.

Hi, I moved over from TOC to FL HH last year and whilst it isn’t perfect, I am enjoying it so far. I am not at Tilbury but had quick look at their link and the work seems to be very varied, they don’t do a lot of weekends there or booked ones at least. They seem to do cross cover for intermodal...

    Highland Spring siding Blackford

I believe they looked at another FOC to help out but they don’t have staff either at moment! A story in a lot of areas am told. Perhaps the knee jerk reaction of 2016/17 when erse fell out of coal is coming back to bite the FOCs a bit.

    Highland Spring siding Blackford

DRS have not started running services due to staff and locos being utilised on RHTT contract, should be starting when leaf fall season stops.

How different do freight shifts look to passenger service?

I would wager that’s DB Cargo, they have significantly improved their conditions. My only concern about DB is they are no longer allowing new entrants to RPS Final Salary scheme, I believe it’s a defined contribution set up. Apart from that (is a big deal for me) DB would be a good FOC to work...

    Freightliner Rapid Deployment Driver

In fairness they must make a fortune on that contract at Mendip, did DB bit refuse to let their drivers transfer over to that?
  17. T

    Freightliner Rapid Deployment Driver

That’s a fair question to ask, it’s basic plus RDD allowance so what would the rest day payment be based on especially if you are away from home etc you are doing RDD duties

    Freightliner Rapid Deployment Driver

A fair few have and already in post route learning at moment. A fair few existing freight drivers jumping over as well. It won’t be for everyone this type of job.

    Diversionary routes into Glasgow Central

Some Of them sign Law to Uddingston. LNER have no diversions at all which on the rare occasion causes chaos, I know of a driver that sat outside Motherwell for 2 hours recently on up due to not signing Uddingston to Motherwell diversion. If you sign core route then one or two fail safes should...
