CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

197115 giving a ‘first class’ service on the Crewe - Chester shuttles today. Are there any other 197/1 with standard plus seats due into service soon?

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

To refuse someone who’s paid a fare that costs more than what SP asks for certainly wouldn’t look good. I suppose time will tell what happens in that instance.

To the point. Thanks! Looking forward to trying one of these out on a longer distance journey.

Should a 197 with standard premium substitute for a mark 4 in future, would passengers with first class tickets be permitted to sit here, I wonder?

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Agreed. But are there enough 197s to do the work they were procured for as well as covering for mark 4 sets, without short forming?

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

A sensible decision. I noticed that some of them have been covered by 197s, which wouldn’t be so bad for a few-hour trip.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

I can’t spot any mark 4 sets on the Manchester services today. I’m keen to book a trip but still very reluctant given the set availability.

Many thanks. I’ll be keeping my eye out.

Any news on HD03 entering service as a 5 car set tomorrow?

TPE Class 185s to be refreshed

I’m not sure if there are other toilets on the unit, as I’m not overly familiar with the 185s. If there aren’t, then it’s convenient for first class to be near the accessible toilet. If there are other toilets, then perhaps it would have been better to have the wheelchair area and first class at...

TPE Class 185s to be refreshed

It’s a shame the wheelchair area couldn’t be rethought, although I appreciate this is just a refresh. During my one experience, I felt so segregated from the rest of the train and its passengers.

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Is there any sign of ramps being installed at stations for the 197s? As it stands, some stations don’t have them and the guard has to assemble the two-part ramp themselves. The two parts of said ramp are stored in different parts of the carriage, which is sometimes causing delays.

TfW 15x/17x withdrawals (17x now finished)

There is already a 5 car set out (3 1/2 cars standard, 1 car first class) and about, which I believe is due into passenger service this month or next.

Thanks, both. I was pondering whether to go out and see it, or not. Turns out it’s a ‘not’, this time!

I wonder if the 1630 will be replaced at Cardiff, also, or if it’ll run through to Swansea as that’s where it’s terminating.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Looks like it might be out again tomorrow, perhaps doing some more proving runs between Swansea and Cardiff. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:V54288/2023-08-10/detailed https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:V54291/2023-08-10/detailed

It’s nice to see another in service. Hopefully it’ll be a small fix so it can be kept in service, too.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

I made a short journey on 1V18 yesterday evening. It was one of the ex-Grand Central sets, although I don’t know which one exactly. The interior carriage lights were switching off at every stop, and the emergency lights at either end were illuminating. Does anyone know what might have been...

It looks like 231007 took a trip to Maesteg over the weekend. A first for the class or has this happened before? https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:V85736/2023-07-09/detailed#allox_id=1
